Apple Store Canada Back to School: Free iPod w/ Mac Purchase - Ends Sept. 15
September 13 Update: The Apple Back to School offer ends on September 15, so this is your last chance. Purchase an applicable iMac or Mac in the Apple education store and you will still be given an option to choose a free (after rebate) 3rd generation 8GB iPod nano or 1st generation iPod Touch. The recently new iPods released last week don't qualify for this offer.
The Apple Store Canada is once again offering a great deal to university students, teachers, and staff members, namely, a free 8GB iPod nano or 8GB iPod Touch (or $319 off the 16GB/32GB iPod touch) with a qualifying Mac purchase.
To redeem this offer, you will need to purchase a new MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, or Mac Pro using your education discount. Then, buy a qualifying iPod and complete the rebate form and mail it in with your receipt and required infomration. You will be sent a rebate for up to $319.
Don't forget, Apple already discounts the cost of the Macs with the Apple Education Discount, so you will save anywhere from $50 to $200 on your Mac purchase as well. Thanks to saku for the heads up!

there are rumors that there is a new redesigned aluminum macbook coming out using the centrinio 2 platform; is this an attempted by apple to clear older inventory?

I don’t know if this is to clear out inventory but I doubt it. They usually have this promotion every year during the summer.

thanks adam - but i talked to a few different apple reps and they all said that you don’t need to be a student, you just need to buy through the student webpage. it never asks you for a student ID or anything, and they said it’s legit!? we’ll see.... if i get my rebate!

New macs due Oct 15th and the new ipods are not eligible. Apple is effective getting rid of old inventory.
Also note, after sept 9th, rebate amounts are 20-30% less.
Save your money until the new macs come out. You can still use student discount on new macs once they are out. I think all the macs are due for a price cut in addition to an update. The new ipod touch already saw price cuts.
