Alamo: $10/Day Weekend Car Rentals through May 31 at Particpating Locations
Here's a deal of interest if you're going to be travelling in the US and intend to rent a car: Alamo is currently offering weekend rentals for $10 per day! Here's how it works:
- reserve an economy to premium size car
- get the weekend rate as early as 9 AM Thursday
- keep your car overnight on Saturday
- 4-day maximum on your rental
- return your car by Monday or higher daily rates apply
According to the fine print, this offer is valid at participating Airport locations in the US and Canada through 5/31/09 for rentals of economy through premium sized cars and 24-hour advance reservation is required. Cannot be combined with any other discounts, coupons or promotional rates. Availability is limited and blackout dates may apply. Not valid for one way rentals. Be sure to check out the rest of the fine print for other restrictions (including some cities) and conditions.

I tried getting the deal and was unsuccessful at first. What you have to do is click on the link above to the Alamo site (or go directly to it). On the left, you can submit reservation information, but don’t do that yet. On the right there is an ad for their $10/day deal, “Click here to make it happen”. Click on that, it then takes you to a page explaining the deal. Click on “Reserve your car now”. It then takes you to a page to submit your reservation information, do that now. Voila.
I reserved a premium car that, with all the extra charges, came to $35 for two days. We’ll see if I run into issues when I actually pick it up, but so far it seems like a great deal!

I’m having a problem. When I select a premium car, it calculates it to $219.46 total charges. Does it discount in the end after I input my information? Is there supposed to be a coupon code? My page automatically fills in a contract ID 7014691…
Help please!

If you enter an airport code, you get the regular rate. I tried entering FLL for Ft. Lauderdale and was quoted the regular rate. By clicking on “Find a Location”, I found the airport code FLLT71. Then I got the $10 rate for up to a full size car. The code for Chicago O’hare was ORDT71. It looks like you use the normal airport code and put T71 at the end of it to get the $10/day rate.

Thanks Cajon!
I’m located in Vancouver, Canada. It looks like the $10/day rates are only valid when you pickup AND dropoff the car from the airport locations only.
It’s too inconvenient to do that for me. But at least we all know now!

AWESOME! I just booked using the banner on the home page http://www.alamo.com that said $10/day like Rudolf mentioned above...pickup is May 21 and return is May 25 and total 4 day reservation cost is $40 + taxes = $59.11 USD
Thanks for the deal!!
