Apparently it must've been an error back then as it only lasted a day. I guess now it's officially 'On The House' :P

    • For those wanting to cut and paste the URL (though I've reported the broken affiliate link, hopefully the mods will get that fixed relatively quickly): https://www.origin.com/can/en-us/store/mass-effect/mass-effect-2/standard-edition

Never played this game, but recently saw game footage from Mass Effect: Andromeda and got me interested in the series.

    • mass effect 2 is really good. 1st mass effect was good when it was released but the gameplay was annoying. Best to catch up on the story on youtube.

    • Just recently finished playing this. The game still looks great with the various mods available. Stuff like ENB and SweetFX for Mass Effect 2 is fairly easy to install with very little effort or know-how.

The RFD affiliate is breaking the link for some reason. You'll have to copy the link from the OP and paste. Or, go to the Origin website and type Mass Effect 2.

The inventory management was annoying and if you explored literally every planet it got repetitive but the rpg elements were far superior in Mass effect 1 and the Mako was boss. Mass Effect 2 is less frustrating but also lacks soul as EA basically told Bioware to turn it into a generic cover shooter with only upgrades of the powers. And there's no planet exploring like in ME1... Just mining and getting dropped off at buildings. Bleh.

I think the plot is far better and more well paced with a satisfying conclusion as well. The character development and character loyalty missions in ME2 are outstanding though, probably the best character ensemble of any game ever made imo.

And the whole point of Mass Effect is to play it in order and transfer saves of choices and character builds from one game to the next. I wish every choice based series did this. It makes the series story feel way more personal.

You should definitely get the first one. It's like 5 bucks when it's on sale and you can transfer saves (your choices and character build) from it to mass effect 2.

    • Thanks OP, downloaded!

I have the trilogy on X360 but one day I'd like to go back and re-play them with PC mods.

Also, for those new to the series - ME2 is regarded as the "better" game, certainly more action-packed than the original, but you really lose out on a lot of background and immersion if you skip #1. Also, ME1 is still a pretty fun game. Recommend playing 1 first.
