View allIm assuming BB won't PM LD if they don't have any stock...thanks RFD (lots of acronyms)
Just got 3 more games with PS+ too. Not using it to remote play, but still debating power line / coax networking for the fun of it.
Source: I used to work there.. *shudder*
It's not practical for me to connect it wired...so would I just be wasting my money?
This wasn't the case for my other set of four Belkin Powerline Ethernet adapters. I bought these first, and although they worked, the only difference between these two situations was that on the 2nd floor I got a weak signal-strength indicator light for the outlet I wanted the adapter to connect to. The next closest one that I choose worked, but I would've preferred the outlet that I really wanted.
After reading some reviews, I later bought those three Linksys Powerline Ethernet adapters, and they work in any outlet. I have a newer home (breaker system), and I've had no issues on using any outlet. Even in my parent's home (where they have the old fuse-box system), I had no issues using any outlet. I did have issues with the Belkins at their home (i.e. I had to find the best outlet without getting the orange weak-signal indicator light).
In either scenario (at my house using the Belkins or Linksys devices) I would always hook up my laptop to them with an Ethernet cable, turn-off my WiFi, and do a speedtest.net test. I'm with Teksavvy, and I pay for 15Mbps DL/1Mbps UL. In either situation for the Belkins or Linksys units, either on the main or 2nd floor, I would still get anywhere from 14.59 to 14.89 Mbps DL and 0.85 to 0.97 Mbps UL.
EDIT: my PM went perfectly.
Got 44$ off
That router has a coax out, which goes into the livingroom wall outlet for my unused coax cablevision wiring throughout the middle and 3rd floor of the townhouse.
The basement gets a Cat6 feed from the Actiontec modem/ router.

I bought them from NCIX, but it looks like they don't carry them any longer.

Too bad, as they work VERY well, and are somewhat inexpensive at $50 each (as opposed to gutting your interior walls to run Cat 6,etc).
They really beat the heck out of powerline Ethernet, especially over longer runs, and you don't have to worry about having different phases on your home's power.
Some homes have 2 or more phases for power, and if that's the case then Powerline Ethernet will only see the outlets which are on that particular phase, leaving the other ones "blind" for lack of a better term.
UPDATE:
Looks like Amazon.ca still carries 'em though.

I don't have cable and am not using any coax connections. If this is better than power line I might be in. Seems a little expensive though...
I use those with the existing co-ax wiring throughout my townhouse, then add a gigabit switch after each one to distribute Ethernet to each device in the room.
it was the only feasible way to incorporate hard wired internet to each of the rooms on the 3rd floor, without having to rip the walls apart and install full Cat6 wiring.
I have a mix of Cat6 & HPNA adapters throughout my place and it works great.
This is what i got instead of power line adapters , got max speed with it !!! Cheers
Each room has a Gigabit switch, connected with Cat 6 wiring in the walls.
Powerline adapters were noticeably slower, and only worked with the framerate & resolution set to standard on the PSTV.
The high settings definitely looked better, so I wouldn't want to use the PSTV set to standard.
WiFi barely worked and would constantly disconnect, even from the next room which is only about 20 feet away with one wall between them.
Very happy with the hard-wired thru wall Ethernet setup with the PSTV settings on high!
Of course, with powerline EVERY situation is unique, and it's a great crutch-type system when it works and you have single phase wiring in your home.
I'd agree that it's a better alternative to WiFi, which I also tried and it wasn't even usable between two side-by-side rooms.
I got the impression that doctorofstyle may only be doing this on occasion, so if he wanted the best performance he could just directly connect the PS4 & PS-TV together via LAN cable and have as close to zero lag as possible.
plug 1 end in outlet near router and connect Ethernet cable to it
plug second one by the system and run ethernet cable to it, bam better consistency then wifi but not as great as hard line if you would rather run a 25-50 cable in your house, you could always buy those cable clips at home depot and clip it to the upper corners of the walls so it doesn't get in the way
If you don't have a wired whole house network, and the wifey doesn't mind you running a temporary cable between the rooms, then run a single LAN cable and simply roll it up and tuck it behind one of the two systems when you are done playing.
Yeah it's a bit ghetto, but well worth it for the odd single player gaming session.
You'll get the least amount of lag that way, if any, and be able to bump up the framerate & resolution setting in the options.
If you want multiplayer or internet access, then a switch would be better, as you could incorporate your router into the mix as well.
My home uses a mix of Cat6 & HPNA Co-Ax Adapters and it's "spectacular" for Remote Play!

just like when you ping your computer on wifi its sometimes 15ms or 20ms or more
on hard line it has a more consistant ping all the time
doesn't necessarily mean your internet is slow it just means the length of time it takes to respond
and when you remote play you use 2 consoles on wifi the delay could get slightly longer
but if you wifi connect the pstv to the ps4 without internet connection your delay would depend on how far your ps4 is to the ps tv and how many walls
but if you are doing wifi remote play I would say it would depend on your internet
if you pay for just basic internet speeds or a old router you may have a little delay, but if you pay for higher then basic internet speeds and have a decent router it should be fine
but it is also good if you like classics like psone games and there are a few remakes of them on psp aswell,
there are a few games that are north America made but there is not very many of them on the vita killzone is one and uncharted however uncharted is not patched for ps tv yet
but if you are buying a ps tv you should look at it more as a mini console / ps4 streamer and less as a media player for Netflix and stuff
I may have the ideal operating conditions for PS4 streaming, having the PS4 in the next room, and both wired with Gigabit & Cat 6.
Also, I skipped using the included DS3, and opted for a spare DS4 I had from the Sony thumbstick replacement program.
That enable partial touch control when using the touchpad.
Also I put in a 32GB card and downloaded the games which worked, mostly from PS+, this month's free Killzone Mercenaries (reg $35.99) is one of them!!!!
Definitely can't complain for $59!!!!!
Sorry!
