View allWe gave the expansion a shot when it came out, not really sure why but we pre-ordered it, and it made the game A LOT better. Most of my complaints were gone, playing it was fun, and while I won't bother comparing it to D2, at least it made D3 a very solid title which entertained my gf and I for a few months. We're back playing WoW for now but we'll play some more Diablo later for sure.
So long story short, I understand (and agree) with most, if not all, the complaints about D3. But I'm guessing most of those people haven't given the game a fair chance once the expansion came out, or were simply expecting D2 with better graphics.
Heart of the Swarm maybe?
????
that's true,
but imo instead of building on d2 they took away some good game features like:
in game trading, dueling, maximum of 8 players and the ability to join any non password games with customized descriptions.
There's not a lot of channels to join like back in the days (different character channels, USeast Trading 1 2 3 etc)
I also notice people talk (type) very little in public games, d2 always had some people talking trash which led to duels and they were fun.
People nowadays just join games for item hunting or paragon levels and that's it.
ps. If you want a similar game like D2, play Path of Exile. It's free and available on steam. It's also an addictive game!
Oh wait.
I have personally botted over thousands of hours in D3 and have not found some of the uniques I was looking for. At least D2, I could trade up to the items I wanted.
I can't fathom how the normal or casual players will be able to obtain the gear they are looking for.
PS. On a side note, anyone know where I can find a copy of the PS4 version for cheaper than $65? Need to find as a Christmas gift and I missed out on the $19.99 at SDM.
It was meant to be a Call of Duty style quick cash grab.
This Bnet store seems to be using USD as its main currency so it'll be $11.26 + tax + conversion fee
not sure if its just me but the old versions (S1 and D2) were more fun to play.
for $9.99 I guess it's a good price.
