View allAlso, when you start the steam link and it puts everything on your TV, if you ALT+F4 out of big picture mode on your PC, you can then play video from your PC to your TV, I use the XBOX controller to scroll through menu's in kodi. Works perfectly!
I don't know if ebgames still allows it, but when I bought the controller last year, I tried it for 2 days and absolutely hated it. Apparently Valve/Steam had some deal with ebgames where if the consumer didn't like the controller (or the link), then it could be returned within 14 or 30 days (can't remember). I returned both BUT repurchased the Steam Link later for cheaper.
Unless the warranty states only covers product purchased directly from them, I wouldn't let them off the hook.
TLDR: There are NO restrictions on what you can open on your TV with the Steam Link. None at all. You can open anything. Any game. Any program. Anything at all.
I use a PS4 controller with it, which is synced by turning the controller on with the Share button held, as far as I can remember. Works wirelessly and is picked up as a bluetooth controller. I also use a wireless keyboard/trackpad combo, which connects via wireless USB dongle that connects directly to one of the Steam Link's USB ports.
Xbox One controllers could previously be used wired or with the dongle, but I assume One S controllers will now work the same as the Dual Shock 4 since they're bluetooth now. I have one at home, but haven't tried it out yet.
And has anyone connected PS4 or Xbox One controllers?
Applied it to the Steam Controller -- total with taxes and FS -- $36.15! Thanks OP! Presumably same price for Steam Link, but I already have it.
Your latency will be highly dependent on processing power. Old computer was like 200ms. New 20ms.
Use the best connection you can (wired).
It has a one year warranty - how long did it sit around before you used it?
I can't decide whether or not to buy this. I just bought an Oculus, maybe I should save the money for the touch controllers lol
Your text to link here...
and the internet will go into meltdown
So you can use everything from Chrome to Photoshop to Thunderbird and whatever else you can think of
My experience so far is similar to streaming to my laptop. Both are on 802.11AC and my PC is wired through MOCA. I get about 15ms of total lag.
I highly recommend it if you have a gaming PC capable of hardware encoding that cannot be wired to your TV.
OMFG!!!! Half-Life 3 is up for pre-order at $42 as well!!!!!!!!
j/k
I had to use my 360 pad for Quantum Break because Win 10 UWP doesn't support the Steam controller and it was tough for me. Aiming/camera control with an along stick feels archaic to me at this point compared to the touchpad/gyro combo. The extra buttons and fully programmable interface are very practical features. Transferring configs between games is a breeze. It's also amazing for games that don't have native gamepad support or just controlling your Windows desktop from your couch. There is room for improvement but I greatly prefer it over dual analog game pads in most games and genres at this point.
But it makes you wonder if it's any good, why you selling it so cheap.....
The controller is terrible. The link is okay, but they are now both collecting dust.
I have both the Nvidia Shield TV and Steam Link. My current Nvidia card is the 500 series and it does not support game streaming, so I decided to buy a Steam Link which is significantly less than a new video card.
I have 2, been using none much... time factor.. so much entertainment, so little time.
I find with in-home streaming sometimes games don't start properly ... i.e. menu pops up, error message, etc. then in home streaming locks up.
