It's sale time at VIA Rail again! You'll save 50% on travel throughout Canada when you book by January 28. This offer is valid on travel up until June 15, no advance purchase required.

Discount applies to adult regular Economy and Business class fares in the Ontario-Quebec corridor or the regular adult Economy, Sleeper, and Sleeper Plus class fares for East-West long-haul trains. Note: East-West route fares increase during the peak season, which begins June 1, 2013.

- This isn't a deal at all - they inflate the prices to give you "50% off", wait until the sale is over and you will likely get better prices.

- ^^ Doubt that. I got round trip Toronto to Montreal for $90 last time. I think soon these 50% off will become the norm and they are just testing the waters. I will say this, they need to improve their record for on time arrivals...

- I agree with many that this still does not make it worthwhile for a family. For 2 adults and 2 kids to head to TO (from London) for a Jays game...the total is 232.78. Better of driving. Maybe worth it if there is only one person going but certainly not more than that. Even one person makes it barely a deal...50 in gas, 25 in parking....you save $10. Perhaps it is worth it just to avoid the frustration of dring near the Dome.

  That is a very specific example of how it doesn't work for your particular situation.

- The escape fares are always cheaper than the sale prices. But I've noticed since January they have increased the escape prices by $20 one way. Really annoys me. Way to go ruin a good thing Via Rail!

- Ottawa Toronto is 90 when they don't have this.. Hard to get away from 125 to 200 when they do. I'm not saying they don't have good rates, I'm just saying its not a sale.
