Air France

KLM and Air France 48-Hour Specials: Flights to Istanbul, Kiev, Budapest, Moscow and More from $829

KLM and Air France 48-Hour Flight Specials
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

It's January so you know what time it is -- time to plan your next vacation, obviously! Right now, KLM has a 48-Hour Special where you can fly to Istanbul, Bucharest, Prague, Kiev, Barcelona, Moscow, Budapest and more for as low as $829. Depending on where you're departing from, rates may change but the overall deal remains -- these are cheap flights especially considering some forum members have priced them around the $1200-$1500 mark normally.

In addition, Air France also has some really good travel deals as well where you can book it over to Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Shanghai and more starting at $799. If you want to get away this year, now would be the time to start planning.

Both promotions are live now but will end tomorrow at midnight. If you hope to get in on the deals you'll want to make the appropriate arrangements very soon.

Thanks to isrdum for sharing these deals with us!

    • The ad also mentions in the fine print that you can get a free stop in Amsterdam.

And although it doesn't mention it, it also seems you can get a free stop in Paris (instead of Amsterdam). At least this is true from Toronto. Just use the multi-city options and list the three flights separately.

And there still seems to be plenty of availability in late April and early May, although I don't know how long that will last.

    • And if you are feeling adventurous, you can also open-jaw it. For example:

Toronto to Budapest : April 25
      Prague to Paris: May 2
Amsterdam to Toronto : May 13

      $833 all in

(you would of course be responsible for your own transportation from Budapest to Prague and Paris to Amsterdam)

    • There are also othe European cities available for a bit more, although this isn't advertised. If a city is served by KLM or Air France, there is a decent chance it may be available.

For example a round trip to Warsaw is about $880 all in. Or you could use Warsaw as one of your cities in an open-jaw for around the same price.

    • Flights to some cities in the middle east are also available for under $1100. I don't know enough about the area to know if this is a good price or not.

    • That is most definitely a deal from Ottawa, especially if you are jonesing for Amsterdam.

According to Google Fligths, you can save some money by flying out of Burlington, Buffalo or even Syracuse ($565 with Delta (and others), usually requiring an airport change in New York).

Keep in mind Aeroflot is banned from Canada but still lands in New York.

Edit: My bad. Sorry. Yank airports only give you deals to Istanbul and Moscow.

Just click on the "bars" icon in Google Flights. Syracuse $565 price applies to most dates in February. Dito for $834 from Ottawa.

Edit: Sorry, Yank deals only apply to Moscow and Istambul.

Bit of a game of chicken, but sales usually happen on Tuesday (around 5PM) with competitors usually matching prices on Wednesday. But when the on sale seats are sold, you are stuck with higher priced tickets.

From Toronto or Montreal for trips in the winter-early spring, about $900-$1100.

Looks like other airlines are now matching/beating the $829 price. KLM prices now down to $789. Hat tip google.ca/flights . Quite the deal from Ottawa, less so for Montreal or Toronto. With the exception of Moscow and Istanbul, the prices are lower than from New York or Boston. That's a sign that it is a "deal".

Air France and KLM merged a few years ago. That's why earlier when I saw you could get a free stopover in Amsterdam, I also tested whether you could get one in Paris instead.
