View allI called Telus customer service, and the rep said the prices for the regular (non-student) plan increased by $3. Telus had mistakenly allowed my student plan to also increase by $3. The rep put in a manual $3 discount for me.
Has this happened to anyone else?
As long as you are attending post secondary school, you are qualified. If you are living with your parent, you need to switch the parent account name to your name and they will do a credit check on you. Since it is an existing account, you don't get $50 VISA card.
I know they are offering 100 for $45 if you don't have fibre to your building.
I was hoping to get the Novus 1GIG deal for $69, but they don't have any plans to upgrade my building in the near future. This is a pretty sweet deal too.
On live chat with them right now. Thanks man!
Official released Aug 1, but details in this thread
and this one
I can't find the Shaw plan yet though.
is it a hassle to switch between the two?

Of course u can use ur own router, I believe fibre is easier, since the line will run into a fibre modem. The telus tech won't be setting up ur router for u, that will be ur job if u want it. They will set up the fibre modem and the actiontec (or whatever they give you). Even if the fibre modem is an all in one modem/router (i do not think this is the case), most of telus's modems can be set up in bridge mode now, so you can still use ur own modem. You will wanna make sure your router is strong enough for the 150/150 connection. If you are running OpenWRT with bufferbloat protection or some cpu intensive stuff, 150 may be pushing the limits on it.
With the new advanced wifi modem there is an option to bridge port 1 so you can use your own router. In the modem Gui, it's under advanced settings.
