Any idea what i can do to keep the current pricing? thanks
Walked into a shaw retail location, spoke to the reps. Upgraded to Internet 150 in 10 mins.
Thank you for your recent Shaw order.
We see that you are looking to change your current plan to a student plan including internet 30 and Premier TV, which we are able to process for the internet only. We can still offer you internet 30 on a Student rate of $30.00 for 8 months. Unfortunatley, in the area of Westlock we are unablet to offer Premier TV as requested.
We can offer you a 6 month discount of $31.00 on the current TV plan you have.
Please confirm that you would like us to update your plan as per the details above, or if you would prefer to remain with your existing plan.
Thank you for choosing Shaw.
After 8 months, you will be paying regular pricing. Not your existing plan.
I have gone back to university and have been thinking about the student plan. Currently paying about $130 for Internet 15 , personal tv, one theme pack and phone. If I were to get the student plan I would get internet 30, popular tv for $30+$30 a month plus whatever Shaw charges students for phone, probably with about 50% savings for 8 month. My question is what happens after the 8 months? Do I get charged the regular rate for features of the student package or does it revert back to my existing plan?
Thank you!
I did apply online again, this time said 'existing customer' and it then asked for which educational institution and for an e-mail address from there to confirm. My daughter got the 'test' e-mail there and confirmed, so we were going to keep fingers crossed that they would approve...and this morning I got a note showing our current channels, etc., with all the student discounts applied! So that just cut down nearly $100 from our bill...nice. There was some mention of an appointment today with an "ANY" window (even though I had asked for self-install), so I replied to the e-mail confirming that there's really no one coming to do anything. Hope not - that's really short notice anyway!
But it looks good - not sure why the reps at the retail location had to be so b*tchy about everything... but I will probably avoid the Southgate location whenever possible next time.
Seems like the 'rover' had already updated our file, as when we saw the woman at the counter, she asked "Reason?" for switching names (kind of nastily, I thought). I said we wanted our daughter to pay her share of costs instead of rent (off the top of my head response). Well, the student promo isn't for students who live at home, only for those living independently.
I hadn't even asked about the student promo!
I said to go ahead and switch names anyway, and she huffily said "Fine, but I'm going to put notes on your file making it VERY clear that she doesn't qualify for the student deal."
Argh. So now there's a note on our account stating VERY CLEARLY she wouldn't qualify.
I just tried an online chat where the rep obviously checked our account notes and said that the student promo is only for students living independently. So I said that the parents were leaving, meaning my daughter WOULD be living independently. The rep said she could then apply but clarify 'in the notes' as to the situation. If approved, she might need to provide proof that the parents were no longer living there! What kind of proof? Well, the rep didn't know - the student promo team would advise on that.
So, very frustrating.
Will probably apply online for the promo and see what happens, but here's a warning that you might get into a vortex of nastiness with Shaw on this. Careful what you say about switching names in case you get someone like I did. Or rather TWO people like I did.
