View allI was just chatting with a rep, he said $15 activation fee, and no need to buy a tablet or even activate one, he would just activate the SIM and mail it.
So anybody using this? Do things like WhatsApp pass SMS verification?
The $10/GB overage is great, especially compared to the current rates charged on in-market plans.
Couple tips:
- TextNow's calling can be a little spotty at time (but it's free and SMS works great)
- Fongo is a little better - fairly reliable but the apps a little worse (less ads though)
- Skype subscriptions ($3 or so) have caller ID mapping - so that's an outbound alternative as well.
I use a combination of the above and never really have an issue where I can't call out
Call different locations and talk with a rep and ask them directly if they will give you a free sim if you come in and sign up for the 3GB plan. If they say yes, get their name and mention them when you go in to sign-up. YMMV but usually works if your persistent enough.
Another another note, those who use textnow, are you able to port in your 416, 647 or 905 number to textnow? The only numbers available from textnow are the 289 or other numbers.
I gave a thumbs up anyway since these threads become a fodder of discussion for existing users.
Also, I've had great experience with GS Wave app on android. It is a SIP/Voip client similar to Zoiper. I think the call quality is slightly better than Zoiper.
Bluetooth integration is not 100% like traditional voice calls but I can live with that.
CHeck kijiji for LTE hotspots and confirm it is unlockable before you buy.
The representative told me it was an error and didn't want to give me this price.
The deal is not on the site anymore.
Keep in mind that the free delivery is very slow - Took me 45 days to receive the phone.
