    • Thanks OP - I've been to this sale in the past and they have great deals on outerwear. Too bad the sale starts on a Thursday at 10am when I'm at work - I hope they will still have some good stuff after 6.

    • Hey Guys, if anyone has been to this sale in the past, how are the prices on tents and sleeping bags? Also, is there a good selection of tents and sleeping bags?

      Thanks,
      Stephen

    • Can someone please explain if amortization time has any affect on the rate offered? When using the calculator I think I would do well to take on my renwed mortgage of 200k @ 2.99% and amortize at 5 yrs. That leaves me with payment around $1600 every 2 weeks. To be safe I guess I could opt to amortize in 10 yrs and do double-up payments instead.

      Am I doing it right?
So you're mortgaging your house to buy some clothes? That's commitment!

      LOL.. WTF???

Answer to your questions is 'NO'.

When you amortize over a longer period, your principal/interest payments would be different between 5yrs vs. 10yrs. However, I would assume that if you were to choose a 10yr amortization that your 2nd payment would only be towards principal (vs. just making an additional payment). Any payments made purely towards the principal saves you on the interest that you would have been making on it.. but I'm not sure what the overall benefit is versus taking the 5yr amortization.

    • ^ LOL wrong thread post and yet still get an answer

I have been to the sample sales in the past about two times, missed the fall one because I had class. I will have to time to check the one coming up. I am looking for a new bag so hopefully they have some Hot Shots or Big Shot. They are usually around $65 in the past for one if anyone wants to know.

Depends on the length of your amortization. How much are you willing to put down?

makes no difference if you do 5yr ammortization with payment $2000 or 10yr amortization with pmnt $1000 and do double up payment. The 10yr one is actually much better cause if you run into financial problems, you can ask the bank to skip future payments/or you're only obligated to $1000 a month. Some banks will let you skip payments if you did double up payments.

    • I just got back from the sale. The only thing I purchased was a men's Nuptse jacket. Normally these jackets retail for $250 plus tax but it was $160 (they don't charge tax at the sale). So I hope that help's put things in perspective on the kinds of 'deals' that can be had at the sale.

      Other things I noted are:
      - There seems to be a huge selection of women's clothing compared to men's (there are multiple rooms of women's clothing compared to the 1 room for men's clothing)
      - Lots of winter jackets available (I saw a men's Gotham jacket there as well for $220) as well as gore-tex jackets
      - Cash only (as most people are aware of by now)
      - Not too much selection of infant / toddler clothing

    • Good to know there is not too much kids. I was going to squeeze in a visit today, as I am trying to find Medium snowpants for my Daughter. Sounds like it might not be worth the trip.

    • You might save more $$ and get different sizes and brands with the Skiis and Bikes 50%+$30 off winter gear.

How's prices on sleeping bags? Thinking of picking up a couple..though prob still be cheaper for me to buy US.

Yeah for top's and jackets, it was pretty much mediums for whatever I looked at. I didn't recall seeing any other sizes for adults.
