Reservations are Now Being Taken for Dine Out Vancouver, January 14th - February 1st

Dine Out Vancouver is starting soon! It runs January 14 to February 1 and reservations will be taken starting January 5 -- that's today! There are 188 restaurants participating and the prix fixe menus will be $18, $28, or $38 per person, depending on the restaurant.

The prices do not include alcohol, tax, or gratuity, and reservations are highly recommended.

      I've never tried the Dine Out restaurants in Vancouver, but I was an avid goer of Winterlicious and Summerlicious in Toronto. Those never failed to disappoint me, so I'm excited about trying some of the Dine Out restaurants.

      I have to agree. I decided to skip last year's as half of the restaurants fail to impress the previous year.

      Some servers hate DOV since it means less tip and more work.

      Ditto. Plus every year there seems to be more and more non-fine dining restaurants added to the list. Have to really do your research before booking.

    • Raising the prices by $3 is outrageous if the restaurants all offer similar menus to last year. Most of last year's menus were terrible deals close to regular price, especially at the lower tier restaurants.

    • We tried stone grill last year and we ended up using the coupon (BOGO free) from Entertainment book instead. You can get much more food with about the same price.

    • There are a few gems in the mix; I usually will participate in 1 to 3. Too bad the list isn't up yet or fellow RFDers can start ripping through it and create the RFD approved list.

    • The Dine Out menu is definitely a different experience than what you would get with the regular menu.
      As someone mentioned, servers are extremely stressed out during these times. They're stretched to the max and the tips really do go downhill. So, service isn't nearly the same. Even the quality of the food isn't there.

      Still, I wouldn't mind seeing if Lumiere participates. I absolutely hate that Rob Feenie got kicked out, so I would be interested to see how things have changed...without paying full price.

      +1. This year you can probably expect even lower standards than in previous years. Price rising instead of dropping? No thank you, I'll pass.

    • Went out last year - small portions, poor quality food, bad service. Instead of restaurants using this as a mechanism to secure long-term customers, they are using it to get quick cash during a slow season. No thanks.

      I agree not all of them are worth the price, but there are decent deals at $28. When I go out to eat, I rarely spend less than $40 per person.
      For $28, any half decent meal is already worth the price. What can you get for $28 nowadays? Can't even have a steak at cactus, and a steak at cactus only have a steak, 5 asparagus and a mash potato.

      Bridges at Granville Island and The Boathouse at English Bay had large, high quality portions and great service, in previous years. YMMV.

      Soup or salad followed by a meat, fish or vegetarian entre and a choclate cake or cheesecake.

      Been going to winter/summer -icious in TO and got bored of that too.

      Agreed... Try Earls, a steak, 5 mushrooms (count them), and some mash potatoes... $25+. So whether you think Dine Out is worth it or not, it's not a bad price really. Again, u must pick the right restaurants.

      the key is "when" he goes out to eat. which is probably in a blue moon. =)

      the stuff on menus typically don't impress me. (on a dine out for 2) I end up doing a DOV for 1 person and something off the regular menu and share it.
