The free cards are only available in-person at YRT/Viva PRESTO events, fare media agents or at the YRT/Viva head office at 50 High Tech Road, 5th Floor, Richmond Hill -- click here to view a list of upcoming PRESTO event locations. Proof of mailing address (photo ID or mail with name/address) is required to qualify and there's a limit of one free card per customer.

    • Not sure if my co-worker (who is a York Region resident) can pick one up for me. Would the card be attached to my co-worker's name or something? I believe you need to load a minimum amount to the card as well?

      Notice to customers:

Please be advised that PRESTO cards will be provided free of charge to York Region residents only. To qualify, customers must provide proof of mailing address (photo ID or mail with name/address). Only one card will be distributed per customer.
Presto.used to be free when they first started it in Mississauga. TTC is pretty much forcing people to switch, so why doesn't viva and yet do the same?

Just trying to speculate obviously, still a good offer to take advantage of.

did you have to load a minimum of $10 when you pick up yours?

    • Yes, minimum $10 pre-load. Not a big deal for me as I take TTC to work in any case.
Much more convenient now with the Presto card too. I setup automatic withdrawal online and no longer need to worry about being out of tokens.
Only trouble is not all TTC entrances accept Presto.

    • I got a card with $20 but when I try to register it online it says it's inactive... do I have to wait 24 hours?

    • I picked one up yesterday at the VIVA head office. They asked to see proof of mailing address to check I was a York resident. My DL from North York worked and got the card for free. Minimum you have to load is $10 and you get the card for free. This was Jan 25, 2017
