Amazon Canada Amazon Student: Post-Secondary Students Receive Free 2-Day Shipping for 6 Months! Post-Secondary Students Get Free 2-Day Shipping

get this deal

Amazon Student is now available in Canada!

If you're a post-secondary student, you can now sign up for an Amazon Student membership and receive free Amazon Prime benefits for 6 months! For the duration of this trial period, you'll get all the Amazon Prime benefits such as free 2-day shipping and other discounts and promotions. If you're not interested in continuing to use Amazon Student after the trial period ends, you can opt-out of renewal at any point during your trial. If you do not opt-out, you'll be automatically charged the Amazon Student membership annual fee of $39.

The discounted membership fee is valid only for 4 years from the day of your registration, until you graduate, or unless you cancel (depending on whichever comes first). Once you graduate and do not cancel your Student membership, your subscription will continue to renew at the regular Amazon Prime rate.

Unfortunately, Quebec residents are not eligible for a free trial of Amazon Student. Instead, sign up and pay the $39 membership fee and you'll receive a year and 6 months worth of Prime benefits for the first term of your subscription, which is essentially the same as a free 6 month trial period and one year's subscription.

To sign up for Amazon Student, you'll need to:

  • have an Amazon.ca account
  • be a college, university or CEGEP student actively enrolled in at least one course
  • be able to provide proof of enrolment when requested
  • have a valid college, university or CEGEP email address

Has been for quite a while, just not nearly as good. Only shipping I think.

No other benefits like Instant Video etc

I meant the free version for students lol.

Too bad they started doing things like making most things "add-on" items so you can't even get those for free shipping.

I'd pay the full price if they would be a little more lenient with what can be shipped with prime.

    • How does this work if you're already on Prime?

    • I'm on the fence about this. Amazon.ca's price isnt that attractive when you compare to Amazon.com.

There's really nothing to lose. Sign up, then go to your prime membership account page and discontinue your membership so you don't get charged after your 6 months trial. You'll still retain the membership benefits until your 6 months is over, which is freakin awesome for the forgetfuls.
