View allIt's perfectly logical and there's no confusion. The check is is issued in the US by a US bank. The official currency in the US is the US dollar. Therefore the currency of the check is US$.
By the same logic a cheque issued in Canada by a Canadian bank is in Canadian dollars by default. If the Canadian cheque is drawn on a US dollar account then the cheque blank has has "US FUNDS" (or similar) printed prominently on it.
The problem is with the bank teller, not the check.
Some people might be jealous of that...
I told them to cash the chq and give me the US$.
There's no more personal information requested by these class action sites than can be found in a telephone book (plus e-mail address.) How does a crook steal identities with that? And yes when you cash the cheque/check your bank may be revealed.
Good luck with that information.
Same in Canada. Normally Canadian cheques drawn on a Canadian bank don't say they're in CA$ because it's self-understood. (By contrast cheques drawn on a Canadian US$ bank account indicate that the currency is US$ so that it's clear what currency they're in.)
I tried to do a TD mobile check deposit into my US$ bank account but their app rejected it on account of the US MICR format. So I'll have to go to a branch.
One more thing to be aware of when depositing US checks in a Canadian bank account. US date format is mm/dd/yyyy so the date on the class action check is 07/05/2016. A teller at a Canadian bank might interpret that as 07May16. That might cause problems with the "Void after 90 days" if you wait until August to deposit the check. That sort of thing happened to me a while back with another US check and an ambiguous date. Fortunately the telleer accepted my explanation about date formats.
Also from Des Moines
I checked my email though, and I do have 2 different DRAM settlement applications:
1) DRAM settlement (dramclaims.com): 5/5/14
2) CRT DRAM Settlement (crtclaims.com): 10/20/15 (says: You may get $25.00 or more for each CRT television or computer monitor you bought between 1995 and 2007)
Presumably this is for the US version of the class action. IIRC the Canadian one paid out a few months ago and that was just measly CA$20.
Good thing the posties are still on the job, otherwise we'd have had to wait even longer.
Idk how, but my settlement amounted to $72.05 (possibly USD?).
I'll deposit it asap
"We are in the final stages of the administration and still require the Courts' approval before payments are mailed to approved Standard Claims. Unfortunately we cannot put a time frame on this process. We are hopeful that payments will be mailed in May, 2016."
i completely forgot i had the check
