For a limited time only, this car seat is on sale for just $199.97, down from its original price of $269.99. Made with Outlast Performance Fabric, this car seat will absorb hot and cold temperature, which helps balance and maintain the perfect temperature for your baby. Their Buckle Pockets technology allows you to tuck away the buckles when you're not using the car seat, which is great for the summer as it will protect your baby from any hot buckle burns. Furthermore, you'll be able to install this car seat in your car securely in less than 60 seconds with the SureLatch Technology.
As with most car seats, you can convert this one to a booster as your child gets older. It comes with a machine-washable pad and cup holders. For a well-rated product, this is a great price to purchase one at.
Not only is this Platinum version exclusive to Toys R Us, but at just $199.97, it's cheaper than what Walmart.ca is selling the non-platinum version for ($219.88). While it won't ship free to your house, you'll get a $10 discount on shipping fees. Alternatively, you can order online and pick it up in-stores for free.

View allThe seat does look big, but it may be the width/bulk of the seat. It seems shorter front to back than our Diono Radian (at least with the Symphony head rest in the bottom two positions which are the allowable positions for rear facing). The rear facing limits are not particularly high, so it is not a good seat for extended rear facing. I will have to switch my daughter to one of our Dionos at some point. The 8 year expiry is correct.
If, for some reason, you need to use the seat for multiple children, the harness height adjusts very quickly and easily without uninstalling the seat.
There is also one interesting warning in the user manual for forward-facing/booster use: "The headrest on the vehicle seat in front of the child should be put in its lowest position. The vehicle seat back that the child faces must be fully padded and free of any hard objects." The Symphony is not compatible with the car in FF/booster mode if the seat back in front of the car seat is hard plastic rather than padded.
The one I bought had a manufacture date of June 2014.

In the rear facing position, I can't move the driver seats back enough that I way I want them too and I am not tall. This is already in a Honda Accord. Can't wait to switch to front facing in the spring.
But it has TWO cup holders which is pretty sweet, compared to the Britax which has none.
One thing to note, the Symphony DLX does not have seat belt clips so doing seat belt installations is a pain and quite an exercise. Not an issue if your car has anchors since the LATCH connectors on the seat are easy to use, but you may want to reconsider this seat if you have an older vehicle without LATCH anchors and have to do a seat belt installation, it's a huge pain.
