    • Just FYI for people looking for a Kitchenaid stand mixer.

I saw in a magazine that the shopping channel will be doing a 1 day sale on the Pro 600 an April 28th. They're claiming it will be their lowest price of the year.

I did a search for their previous Pro 600 sales and the prices were around $350cad + bonus bowl + bonus cookbook + $30 shipping. I think their best sale was a over a year ago where the sale price was around $350 and included the icecream maker attachment for free. My guess is that this sale will be similar.
Warm at best, as this or similar model can be had at costco for slightly under $300 at its periodic sale, with generous return policy.

    • Walmart has a lower end kitchen aid mixer for $200 and it comes with a great extra. Rubber edge mixing paddle.

    • I would advise against something so big unless you always do large batches.
I have the same model and it's a pain to wash, especially since I never use more than half it's capacity.

    • Booo hisss! Don't give more $$ to Rogers! (The Shopping Channel is owned by Rogers.)

Anyway, they have multiple KitchenAir stand mixer "Today's Showstopper" offers throughout the year. This is another blah offer.

    • We'll see They do that but when there is a Kitchenaid rebate their sale price is not as low...

In November there were a kitchenaid rebate and the price was for 1 day $389.99

In June there were no kitchenaid rebate and the price was

      http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/Content/en_CA/Images/Category/Newsletters/Showstopper/2011/06/26/MN1.jpg $349.94

I doubt that kitchenaid will give the 2 rebates. We have to think that the price they sell is about the price they get...

Keep in mind that they advertise the price will be lower than $349.94 and we could get the $50 over that... We'll see.

BTW if you could get a copy of this magazine, keep it.

Costco's is a lower model, and the bonus bowl is worth at least $50 on it's own.

    • huge and heavy. if you make dough regularly you need this larger one.. else any other size suffices. I barely use it. the gf can't lift it as well. waste.

      Hope you're joking.
All you need to do is wash the bowl and whichever attachment you use.
I can't see how washing a smaller bowl or attachment with any size household stand mixer would substantially change the cleanup time.
You can't get smaller capacity than a hand mixer and it takes the same time or maybe even less to clean this because spaces between blades are larger and there is only one attachment vs. two on a hand model.
I've used both. Cleanup is not an issue.

      I have the Costco version.
      Cleanup is a breeze.
I wouldn't get anything less than it or the 600.

$350 on the 600 vs. ~ $290 on the Costco is not a bad price if it includes an accessory.
If you absolutely must have a 600 vs. Costco's (more colours/want the 600 sticker, etc.), you aren't going to see a better deal.

For those wanting details on these mixers, search this forum.
      It's been debated numerous times.

    • We got this model (pro 600) at Wisebuy for 179 for the black version. It is a refurb with the normal warranty. Not a scratch on it, performs great. A gamble with a refurb but was half of this price. They had about 10 left of this model (about 2 weeks ago) at the Stoney Creek location. Had lower models even cheaper.

Sometimes they have them on sale for $99. I got one before Christmas for $99 when they had a sale for ALL small kitchen appliances for $99. Got a food processor too for $99, used a coupon I had at the time as well and got an extra 25 off both. Best deal I've gotten in a while. They used to have a Facebook page for coupons not sure if they still do.

It's today's (well, now yesterday's) Showstopper... They had two today, the other being the shoes. I posted a direct link above.

Edit: Just checked the link, and it seems RFDs affiliate link is making it go to the main page. Either way, it's the first sale on the main page before it flips to the shoes and rings.

    • Anyway looks like Costco has the best deal right now. They had the pro hd 5.5qt 575w model on sale for $300 after instant rebate.

The pro 550 vs pro 600 is basically the same other than bowl size. Both use the 575watt motor and same gear train

The shopping channel pro 600 is $40 more and you have to pay around $30-40 shipping. it does come with a bonus flex edge beater ($20 value) though.

    • If you are buying from HSC be sure you are keeping it because you pay shipping back, and it has to be as specified by them, which isn't the cheapest. Nice mixers but tall, big and heavy, don't expect to easily put it away, plan to leave it on the countertop.

According to the return policy there is no charge for return shipping. They do require they receive the item back within 30 days of you receiving it. If they receive it beyond the 30 day period then you are charged $15 to have it returned to you. As their website notes:

Do I have to pay to return an item?

No, but please note that we do not refund your original shipping costs when we process your refund. We do not charge a re-stocking fee for reasonable returns. There is no postage cost to return your item provided you use the Easy Return Canada Post label that is included with your order.

    • Color options, TSC seems to have the widest selection for choice in color. I don't care what color I get but the wife is very specific in what she wants and most vendors don't offer quite the range that TSC does, example: Costco.

    • I bought this exact mixer (in copper pearl) last year when it was the showstopper, and I love it! The pro 600 is so much better for making breads or other heavy doughs, I found the lesser KitchenAid models weren't strong enough and the bowl would come off or the motor would wear out eventually. I use my mixer on average about two times a week (more during peak times like Christmas) and it was totally worth the money.

    • The jury is still out on the KitchenAid 600 since the company upgraded the units gearbox. Until recently the machine was not built for mixing heavy bread doughs like whole wheat. A google on the subject will testify to the fact that the KitchenAid was not as durable as the Bosch. A local small appliance store in Regina that sells both the KitchenAid and Bosch units keeps a repairman employed on pretty much KitchenAid mixers alone. However, I have to agree with my wife that a Empire Red KitchenAid is more appealing to the eyes than the Bosch. That, along with the upgrade of the metal gears, made our decision to buy a KitchenAid today on the TSC. I can only hope the newer version is an improvement over the old.
