I went to target to check this out, The Refused the COUPON!!!
I had it saved onto my phone, the same as i do for any other coupon i have used over the past few years. r .. I showed it to the cashier and they told me, I needed to have it printed??
I have used coupons on my phone at this exact same target store many times in the past
After i long argument they told me i needed to go home to print it and come back.
Which obviously i did NOT.
This was supposed to be a customer appreciation sale. To appreciate there customers... I left with a a bad taste in my mouth, and i will not be back to Target anytime soon
This sale was totally hidden, Not promoted at all in store. And then when you do know about it and try to use the coupon, they refuse it.. Then laugh at you and say its ONLY 10%. Just buy it anyways
Target you have lost a customer.
Why are people getting angry at workers who are following rules given to them from their employers?
These guys understand.
It's these types of people who will eventually ruin things for everyone. Funny thing is people complain about how Target won't give them 10% because of the coupon but then you see multiple threads where people take advantage of Target and get price adjustments on clearance items or buy from one store at regular price and do a return and rebuy at a store with a lower price. Show me another store that allows this even though it's against their policy. Every other store will say too bad.
For those who say they won't shop there again, I bet the next time a clearance thread comes up they will be running over there right away to take advantage of the deal. Overall Target's customer service seems to have dropped a bit since opening, back then every associate said hi and asked if you needed help, but at the same time it gets tiring saying I'm good thanks a bunch of times in one trip. But like others have said a sales person is nearby in all departments and do help you when you need it. Prices are good even on regular priced items, 5% red card is great and fantastic clearance deals. Less customers means you are in and out a lot faster than a Walmart.
LOOOL You are exactly the type of problem shopper we have today. You think just because target is hurting for sales they should bend over backwards for you. You knew full well going into the target that there was a chance the associate would not accept showing it on your phone. Instead you try to use the "other people did it" . Grow up. They're not "all over the place" with their policies either, it's pretty clear on the coupon; PRINT.
I'd also like to say I've NEVER had a problem with Target. In fact the Target near my house probably has the best customer service I have ever received at any retail store. There's always a associate close by; always willing to help out. They also do substitutions which is not something I see often. If something is out of stock they will almost always substitute equal or better one for the same price. I will literally sing PRAISES for them; best customer service I have had in years.
Tbh, I don't think it's wasting manager's and csr's time at all since most of the time they don't have customers to serve. Isn't it the job of those people who work in retail to 'serve customers' after all?
What good are you doing for Target?
Wasting both the managers and csr's time.
Target doesn't need shoppers that are going to try and get sale items on their own terms and then complain when they don't comply. They didn't eve buy anything anyways.
All they are gonna do is spread the word about how "bad" Target it and deter others from buying; because baby couldn't get what they wanted.
Surely they don't need those shoppers.
Target Employee: Refused, said I needed to print it. Told them, it's from their web-site other people have had no issues using their phones at other Targets. They said they were told by management not to accept the coupon. Told them again, it's from their own web-site, I don't have access to a printer on weekends, they could pull up the coupon from their on computers/smartphones if they wanted...the employee finally gave up and got a printed coupon she already had on hand and scanned it.
Used my Red Card to get another 5% off.
I tried to buy regular price items with this coupon and they gave me grief, Going fwd, they've motivated me to only shop there when there are really good deals and I can stack coupons on.
If they're afraid of people reusing the same coupon, they could get uniquely generated coupons
And yes, I feel entitled. I would have not bought anything if they refused the coupon and would have threatened to cancel my Red Card because of this on-going Target behaviour of trying to weasel out of deals. I got grief before from the Father's Day coupon this year of them NOT accepting print outs.
If they were CONSISTENT across the board with stores and employees on how they handle coupons either printed or online, then I'd have no issues. Problem is they're all over the place with their policies. Some accept them, some don't. Some accept printed, some don't.
It's still a stupid way to do a promotion as it's not really advertised in store. Why not just have an overall 10% off storewide sale that is deducted automatically at the cashier. That would not require the need for a generic coupon that is forced to be printed, according to most Target workers and managers. Just like Superstore has their no tax weekends, advertise the sale in a flyer and with store signs! They are just cheating customers this way as many had no clue about a coupon. At the very least if they require a printed coupon, have them printed out officially and have stacks at the checkouts. This way customers who forgot theirs or didn't know about the coupon can participate, resulting in more happy customers!
Not sure what the big deal is with not having a printout. You could have re-used that coupon as many times as you want this weekend so it makes sense to use the phone instead of printing it.
I'd prefer WalMart where I don't have to deal with store coupons and no staff at this point sadly.
My coupon said to print .
I love Target and wish it stays!
Unless the next coupon has an electronic option this thread will establish no printer = don't go to Target for the sale.
Thanks OP. I just hope some decent games come out for this thing one day...
computers + printers available
I think they will try the 10% coupon again -- at least hoping they do
$100 item plus HST (13% in Ottawa) = $113 less 10% coupon is $101.70
$100 item less 10% coupon = $90 plus HST (13%) is $101.70
Should be the same amount either way...
Also target at my store had a stack printed out at guest services...not sure why they wouldn't just keep 1 at each till and scan it.

We do not accept mobile coupons.
We reserve the right to accept, refuse, or limit the use of any coupon.[/QUOTE]
Thought of not bringing a print out but did anyway just to be safe. Although, I did print out 3 coupons on one sheet to limit my environmental impact.
This is Target's loss, not the customer. In 2014, there shouldn't be a requirement to print the coupon off.
I was at Sportcheck the other day. I had one of their 10% coupons that came in e-mail. The cashier stated the coupon should be printed out and did a "one time" exception for me.
So much for targeting the under 40 demographic.
