    • Actually quite interested in the Ikea Etobicoke kitchen handles deal as I'm about to switch handles for the entire kitchen. Savings of $7-10 per handle on 15-20 handles is a lot of money.

      Would appreciate it if anyone from the Etobicoke area could report on what handles are on sale sometime Wednesday.

      I'll soon find out. They were selling like hotcakes in Boucherville in the morning though.

      My closet is 96'' x 60"... those doors are 93" x 59" (well the ones I bought). They also have a wider version. I'll have to drop the doors down 3". It's gonna take some Macguyvering to make the installation look elegant.

      Any ideas or past experience on covering up a 3" gap from the top?

    • Given that the top of the door is also where the track is, you'll actually have to bring down your closet doorway by those 3", and do it in a way that's sturdy, because they'll be holding the weight of the doors. A friend of mine helped me do that at my place; we connected two 2x4s (to get a 4" "beam") and then attached it to the top of the doorway, then plastered it until smooth.


      I'll soon find out. They were selling like hotcakes in Boucherville in the morning though.

      Thanks for the idea, I was thinking that earlier, but was hesitant with the the plastering just in case the wife wanted to change them in a year or 2. So I should rephrased the" elegant solution" to "Easily removable elegant solution".

      I had another question about the bottom rails though.

      How did you end up installing them? Do you have to "step" over to get into the closet or is it flush with the floor? did you use conventional sliding closet door bottom rails and attached some sort of guides to the doors?

    • I bought one of the wider sizes, and only use 1 of the two doors. In my case, I only installed half of the bottom rail, so that the space with the door opening was left open. (I keep a chair inside that closet, so I needed to be able to wheel it out)
