    • Seriously, throw a $100 bill behind your drivers license in your wallet and only use it for emergencies. CAA and any other road-side assistance plan is a waste of money. How often do you need your car towed? I've been driving for 12 years and I haven't had to have it towed once. At $100, even if you have to get your car towed once every 5 years, that's $500. A tow is no more than $150-$200 tops. I realize that they come with some "extras" but how often do you use those?

CAA is marginally a good deal if you abuse the hell outta their travel books, but even then those have been replaced by GPSs and the internet.

No Purchase in store or call 1-888-7ASSIST

Is it valid in the US?
I'm curious about the same. I looked in the handbook and only in one spot does it talk about the USA. I would think that it covers it.

I just looked at Alberta flyer and it's on sale too.

I will be going on a year long trip with my 1978 campervan and due to it's questionable reliability, I will be buying that. And with a free oil change we're getting close to $50/year for the membership.

I wonder how much for two vehicles under one household.

$100 will get you a tow for about... 3 meters.

So your $500 for 5 yrs will get you about 15 meters. My driveway is longer than that.

I got towed 8km for $50, really towning isnt that expensive outside.

    • Towing is roughly $3 per km + some additional admin-like charges

Been driving for 5 yrs as well, never got towed even though driving older cars.

Deal is pretty sweet...might use it as a gift for someone else driving a clunker

    • I would never take my car to Canadian Tire for any type of maintenance. Either way, I think $80 for AMA service seems pretty reasonable. It's not just towing. Ever lock your keys in your car? Run out of gas? Car battery die? Get your car stuck? etc.

    • It's been stated before but just remember CAA covers the person where as Canadian Tire only covers the car. I rather pay the extra for coverage anywhere, no matter what vehicle I'm in

      Depends on your situation.
In my case I and my wife drive the same car. So CT is better option than CAA. If you drive more than one car then, CAA might be better.

    • Out of my own experience , CT road assistance is contracted out , they don't have their own operators.
Last time I needed a tow I had to wait 3-4 hours in a cold October day , I caught a cold too , while the CT operator
was keep reassuring me that wait time is 45 minutes. Turns out that the independent operator waited out
to do more jobs before taking mine.
I called CT to complain about this , they said it was a busy day , I called bs on that because the roads where clear , no rain no snow that day just a really cold sunny day and my car broke inside the city close to hwy so easy to get to, to that they said we're sorry not our fault.... so I NEVER went back to this kind of company.

You do not need your car to tow to CT. You can tow it anywhere up to 250KM.
