Amazon.ca: Wusthof 9728WB Gourmet 7-Piece Steak Knife Block Set $55.53 w/Free Shipping (Reg. $190)

Amazon.ca: Wusthof Gourmet 7-Piece Steak Knife Set
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

Here's a pretty sweet deal on a Wusthof block set over at Amazon.ca. Right now, while quantities last, you can order the Wusthof Gourmet 7-Piece Steak Knife Block Set on sale for $55.53 with free shipping. Reviews are mixed but Wusthof is a quality brand name manufacturer which gives us reason to believe these are good knives especially at this price.

At a regular and possibly inflated price of $190, we'd stick to cutting our steak with whatever has a sharp edge in our kitchen cutlery drawer. At $55, though, you're getting six knives and a block to house them in which is an awesome deal for those who will put them to use with regularity.

The deal is live now but quantities are limited. Free shipping is available.

    • When it comes to merchandise on Amazon listed on sale, you have to ignore the original asking price as in many cases it's massively overinflated, and ask yourself if the sale price is of actual fair value for what you are getting. In my opinion, even at sale price of $55, these knives are overpriced. There are less than flattering reviews of these knives on Amazon.com. One particular reviewer said "Although well balanced and nice looking the blade is extremely flimsy and cuts steaks very poorly". Just looking at the pictures of them I have to agree that the blades do look very thin.

    • I can't find these knives cheaper than 99$ even in USA. So this is a great deal! They are made in Germany btw!

    • Wusthof's gourmet line are their bottom of the line knives. They're not forged, low quality. Their grand prix, classic and ikon are all much better (but also more expensive)

    • I'm in the market for a solid chefs knife, but this brand (unless it's ikon) aren't great. Not a great deal imo OP

    • Just as an FYI, my best friend is a professional chef and all of Wusthof's knives (except for the Gormet's and the weird ones you see at Home Sense) are amazing. He uses the Classic series and prefers them over many other brands in the same price range. In fact, the person he takes them to for sharpening (someone who has been doing it their entire life) sharpens them for free because he enjoys working with a steel of their quality!

As far as I'm aware, (but I could be mistaken) the only difference between the Classic, Ikon, Classic Ikon and Cordon Bleue is the styling.

    • I think people are loosing track of the fact that these are steak knives.

Yes, there are better grade of knives out there.
Yes, you can get sharper knives.

But, we are not talking about a chef's knife, or a boning knife... we are talking about a steak knife! If you are have worry about having a real sharp high quality to knife to cut your steak and vegetables at the table, then you really should be buying a quality better steak rather than focusing on how to cut it better....

Steak knifes shouldn't be overly thin and flimsy as a few of the reviewers on Amazon have commented on. If you've every been to a high class steak house (especially the high class steak houses in the US), you know that you will get some pretty nice heavy bladed durable steak knifes that look and feel like they could cut through a tree stump.

    • Amazon has had these at this price before. I purchased mine about a month ago. It is a good price at ~$60. Had been looking for some decent steak knives for a while and had stumbled across them. I'm happy with them.

    • I ordered these 2 days ago, they arrived yesterday. Wow are they sharp! Cut my 1 inch thick pork chops like butter. For 6 GERMAN knives and the wooden holder, it's an excellent deal. Not to mention, couldn't find any place in CA or USA close to this cheap and with free shipping to boot!

I already have a 8" Wusthof Classic Chef knife which I am already happy with, these steak knives compliment my set very well since they have the same styling.

    • I've had these knives for a year now.. As long as you hone them regularly, they stay very sharp. I've never had a problem cutting into a steak or any other kind of meat.
Can't be happier with these knives for the price I paid.

For cooking, I have a set of Shun Ken Onion knives.

Btw.. what kind of person puts good knives in the dishwasher? Just reading some of the stupid reviews online... None of the tips off mine have broken and the handles are all still intact.
