If you're looking to kill some time with a few PC games this weekend, Steam has discounted some pretty good titles as part of their Midweek Madness Sale. Right now, you can pick up Alan Wake at 50% off and Portal 2 for 66% off until Thursday at 4pm PST. Although both are older titles, they each received high scores with Portal 2 even considered one of the best games ever made.

If you can't decide between one or the other, just a heads up, they're both very different games. Portal 2 is more of a first-person, puzzle game while Alan Wake is an action adventure game with some first-person shooter elements. It's also pretty scary -- or so it was touted as. Both titles come with Steam achievements as well, so completionists will be sure to play them at least a few times to up that all-important gamer score.

Both games are on sale now until Thursday and available via digital download through Steam.

  The 2 DLC chapters that you get with it offer you proper closure, at least better than the original ending as far as I'm concerned.

- question, I got "Portal: the first slice" free a whiles back. is that just a demo version or is it the full game, i never went past 3-4 levels then stopped.

  Those chapters come with the base game, the Collectors Edition gives you some videos, a pdf book and the soundtrack

  Wikipedia says The First Slice is just the demo of the game. It's the same demo that anyone can download through Steam.
