Fancy a day at the beautiful parks, beaches and museums in Canada’s Capital Region? Make that day July 1st and you’ll get free admission to many special events! On Canada Day, the National Capital Commission will host an open-door event at many parks, museums and attractions in the Ottawa and Gatineau region. Both residents and visitors are invited, so if you were planning a trip to Ottawa soon, you might want to do so then. Here’s a peek at what you could do with the whole family on that special day:
- Gatineau’s Park’s Mackenzie King Estate: vsit of the former summer residence of Canada’s 10th Prime Minister, music, giant cake and games for kids
- Beaches in Gatineau Park and Vincent Massey Park, in Ottawa: access fee per vehicle, mini-bus and bus will be waived for the day (rental equipment fees and group reservation fees will still apply)
- Ottawa Jazz Festival: free admission to best up-and-coming indie bands
- Byton Museum: free admission to the first floor presentation on early Ottawa history
- Canada Aviation and Space Museum: free admission to a full day of aviation fun and engaging activities
- Canada Science and Technology Museum: free admission for the day to exhibitions, interactive activities and more
- Rideau Street: free activities, extreme sports demonstrations and much more
