    • $400 can fly me from Edmonton to Toronto return. 25,000 Aeroplan miles will get me the same. This is not a good deal.

    • Can't believe Aeroplan institutes a policy of stealing miles from people who take a break from using them for a relatively short period of time, planned or not.

Why any company would want to pay for miles, that end up vanishing from people who shop at their stores if they even miss the deadline for using them by a few days
while Aeroplan is able to "donate" TWELVE MILLION AEROPLAN MILES to "charities" - like the Toronto Gay Pride parade, is beyond me.

      Who paid for THOSE miles???!!

I personally have stopped using any Aeroplan sponsors- as have a lot of the people who were appalled at the callous treatment I received after a very stressful and heartbreaking year,
To find out that I lost all of my Aeroplan miles . when I called to use them for what I had been saving and planning for- and not be offered a chance to explain to a supervisor or manager at the call centre by the call centre employee ( who was really, really hard to understand, and quite nasty to boot) , was like getting a slap in the face.

What I do not understand is why sponsors continue to let these crooks get away with this- they and their customers are getting ripped off.

If I had a customer who was treated like this by one of my "nice to have, but not necessary for my success " business suppliers- , I sure wouldn't be giving them any of my money.
There are lots of other loyalty programs out there that don't rely on stealing from their sponsor's customers, to pad their "charitable donation advertising " ( like the TWELVE MILLION AEROPLAN MILES DONATION given to the TORONTO GAY PRIDE PARADE) , and corporate bonuses.

Hopefully, the Class Action lawsuit against the Aeroplan shysters will be productive, and end this shoddy practice of them stealing miles from their customers.

A class action lawsuit is underway against Aeroplan to force the rewards program to reinstate lost points and compensate angry consumers who were shocked to discover their points had an expiry date. There is a link on the CTV news story above to the Merchant Law Group, who are handling the lawsuit.

If you would like to get involved in the class action lawsuit you will have to sign up with the Merchant Law Group.
There is no financial cost to join the class action?
