View allI had to return my initial one, but am looking to pick this up again this week at the lower price.
$829 today, with $30 rebate available.
Its comes with the pen. Digitizer works well! Did a lot of research on the ghosting issue but nothing experienced so far *fingers crossed*
Hope if anything happens, the 3 year warranty covers it.
It is my first ultrabook so much lighter than my previous laptops. Very happy with it. Keyboard is great and that was the main selling point. I needed the dedicated Page Up, Page Down, Home, and End Keys. The Dell ultrabooks I was also considering didn't have these.
I contacted Lenovo regarding the wrong warranty date, it has been corrected but my warranty is now showing 360 days (1year) instead of 1000+. I'm considering getting the 3year onsite if its covered in my area.
This deal makes the yoga's sold @ lenovo for thinkpads anniversary sale look silly.
The shipping just got tacked on once the disposal fee got entered into the cart.
The Online sales support rep told me that they'll refund the shipping fee to me once it ships. Also, for anyone that get's into this situation, it'll help to check out through their site as oppose to paypal. They won't be able to change it on the order if it's outside of their systems.
Thanks Financials. I used your cashback link as well as my shop.com/echeng2000 portal to double dip on the cashback RFD 2% + Shop.com 4% ! So awesome ^.^
Anyone else in this case?
After 6 hours of use Still no sign of ghosting. Wondering if I should get the 89$ onsite warranty as well. what if I take later on, does it extend the warranty?
- Built in microphone does not work. I must use external webcam/microphone to do video chat.
- Yoga2 has micro HDMI port but it will not recognize external monitor. Tried Micro HDMI connector to regular HDMI on monitor and also Micro HDMI to VGA converter.
- RAM in some models is hard-wired. If you get 4GB model and want to upgrade later to 8GB, you might be out of luck.
Caveat Emptor!!
Unit was manufactured on December 31 2013. So I suspect this model may have been built for a large Corporation(s) but there was surplus left over. I had to run System Update several times to pickup all the outstanding Lenovo fixes, also Win 8.1 Update needed to be run a few times to get to the latest levels, all updates installed without issues. One thing I did notice after registering the system and checking Lenovo Warranty Status was the Warranty began June 11, 2014 and Expired on July 25, 2017. I have sent an email to Lenovo (nasr@lenovo.com) along the attachment of my sales receipt and asked then to correct the Warranty start date to reflect Sept 17 2014 for 3 years.
Even though I have only possessed the TPY for 5 hours, I have not noticed any ghosting/image retention. I will most likely upgrade the Warranty to 3 Years Onsite which is approx. $89. I will wait a few weeks before doing so.
Hopes this helps.
You also cannot upgrade the wifi card (yet) due to Lenovo's whitelist policy. If it's the same card that came with mine then it doesn't even have the 5Ghz band.
So in the end there really is no fix and you're getting a faulty product. Some people Lenovo to refund their money since there is no fix.
Is this still a good deal considering the ghosting?
This one is Thinkpad Yoga which is slightly different to Yoga Pro.
If you don't have a use for the digitizer you can find better laptops for the price probably, although for thinkpad quality and the keyboard + specs its still not a bad deal without.
The 3 Warranty is 3 years limited parts and 1 year labor.
Anyone know if this will mean the screen will be fixed/replaced during year 2-3 free of charge?
