If you're looking for a notebook with some power, and don't mind buying refurbished, FutureShop.ca has a good deal on a 15.6" Lenovo worth checking out. While quantities last, you can order the refurbished Lenovo IdeaPad P580 15.6" Laptop with Intel Core i7-3520M, 750GB HD, 8GB RAM, GT630M, Windows 7 on sale for $499.99. Again, it's refurbished but there's no denying there's lots of value here, especially at this price. It'll be hard to find a notebook with the aforementioned specs for less so you'll want to check this out if you need a new laptop.

There isn't much more to the deal other than it's a solid notebook at a very good price. There's lots of hard drive space, RAM and comes with a third-generation i7 processor. The dedicated video card should be good enough to play most games on low to medium settings, though we wouldn't expect anything more out of a mobile GPU.

The deal is live now but quantities are limited. Shipping is free.

    • Graphics Chipset Intel HM 76 is most likely a typo. considering that it's an ivy i7, it most likely has HD4000.

You are buying something for less than the cost to build it here.

edit: apparently, it does have NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M that scored 1177 in 3DMark 11 (Performance 1280x720) which is on par with Intel HD Graphics 5000 that scored 1134. I don't think you can get a laptop with HD5000 for less than $650 in the near future, so this is a good buy.

    • Dedicated GT630M /2GB. Not bad.

Looks like you can swap out the optical drive for a hard disk and install a SSD in the primary bay. Nice for $500.

    • My girlfriend bought one of these back in like september of last year. She's had some small glitches here and there mostly the touchpad not working properly. Build quality is decent. For 500$ its a steal though. It can play BF3 on low-mediumish with solid 60FPS no problem. For someone looking for a uber cheap gaming laptop this is a decent buy for sure.
