Short and sweet -- Best Buy has brought back the popular refurbished Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11.6" 64GB Windows RT Tablet and put it on sale for $299.99 for a limited time. We've seen this particular unit on sale go on sale quite often but stock usually runs out quickly. If you've missed out on the previous deals, and still want to pick one up, here's your chance to make up for lost time! Despite being refurbished, the Yoga has some sweet features for the price including:

  • NVIDIA Tegra 3 Processor
  • 11.6" Touchscreen with 1366x768 Resolution
  • 64GB Storage
  • 2GB RAM
  • Windows (RT) Operating System
  • 8 Hour Battery Life
  • 2.7 Pounds

If you need to travel light and just need something for web surfing, email and word processing, this is a solid option to consider. Windows RT doesn't get a lot of love but if you're fine with its limitations such as not being able to install programs and limited apps, for example, this is an affordable semi-notebook that'll work well for students on a budget.

The deal is live now but quantities are limited. Shipping is free.

    • My wife got hers a couple of days ago. The overall build quality is very nice. It feels solid, and the screen hinge is smooth and seems like it will last a long time. The keyboard also feels good in hand.

The screen resolution could be better, but for the price I can't complain. Using the device as a tablet, it's pretty big and heavy, so I would only do so on my lap or resting on a pillow, never holding the full weight in hand.

    • Picked this up on the last sale as well. Updated to Win 8.1 last night and did hard reset. Seems snappier and I'm quite pleased.

      Update through the windows store.

I am enjoying this machine for the price.

      Battery life is incredible.

    • I have one, and so far, I have been pleasantly surprised.

Amazing battery life, very nice screen (albeit with low resolution) and a keyboard that is very comfortable for typing. If you are a non power user (i.e. just office, browsing and movies), I don't think you can beat this deal.

Since this was so cheap, I actually ended up getting a Lenovo y510p as well. Now I have the best of both worlds - a powerful laptop for home use, and a great traveler for conferences and meetings. Even refurbished, I trust Lenovo implicitly.

P.S: To make the machine really snappy, google "Windows RT Performance Tweaks". There are sites that will tell you how to disable Windows Defender, File Pre-Fetching etc that actually make a material performance difference.

    • Isnt windows RT like complete trash? Or can you put full windows on it now?

RT seems fine so far. No complaints from an average, everyday user. I have not read up on what the limitations are, but have not noticed any.

    • I thought I'd hate RT but here's my perspective so far. I wasn't looking for a laptop replacement. I already have a couple laptops and to be honest I don't really use them either as I try to get all work done at my desktop and then its mostly farting around on a tablet, browsing the interclit and general consumption of media. The yoga has some nice engineering and build quality to it so its become my goto lately over my first gen ipad. Yes it is limited to what software will run however with a jailbreak there is a growing list of recompiled software that will run on the ARM processor. Also there is an x86emu project that will allow you to do some light duty emulation and run some older windows programs. For example I use it to run mIRC and it does the job fine and doesn't eat all the cpu.

Also, if anyone is struggling to disable tap-to-click on the trackpad let me know. I figured out the registry setting after not finding a single fix online which surprised me. I ended up comparing another laptop with synaptics trackpad software in it and was able to experiment until I found the setting that works.

RT is excellent for its intended purpose (which is a tablet OS), and the 8.1 update made it even better. So many of the negative comments are from people who have never even tried RT or expect it to do everything Windows can and then conclude that it sucks.
