WHYYY on earth do ppl still buy < 1080p screens.
3000 is made of all plastic and the 5000 is aluminum (on the outside).
Don't see how build quality on a plastic machine could be equal to an alumnium machine.
Either way, it's still a bait and switch in some form, because they posted the wrong, cheaper model on their website for the 1st 2 days of the sale.
I will be returning the laptop with extreme prejudice and will try and get the 5000 for the same price, if it turns out to be a 3000. I've print screened the website with the 5000 info.
Emoci -- I believe you think were being clever, but you linked the 3000 model. The 5000 model dN referred to accurately doesn't seem to have an optical drive, as s/he correctly stated in his/her post.

This web site shows Windows 8 and 8.1 to be 13% of the market share of desktop OSs.
JackWhyte, where are your stats from? I am always interested in new sources.
when this comes out, win 8 will be the new vista - shunned by all and quickly forgotten as a messy bump on the road.
did anyone realize that win 8.1 is on *less than* 25 million pcs/laptops worldwide? I knew win 8 was a fiasco of epic proportions with 0% corporate adoption rates, but less than 25 million win 8.1 computers out there? even though stats tell us that a very high % of win 8 systems get upgraded to win 7, those numbers are still crazy.

Pros: not a horrible price for the specs
cons: surface feels rough and looks extremely cheap, number pad is very small (sucks if you have big hands), billingual keyboard
Someone on RFD said to try out Classicshell.
Awesome....feels like windows 7 but actually running on windows 8. A little tweaking and I removed alotmof the windows 8 stuff.
Saved me from buying a new OS.
Best of all...Classic shell is free.

I am not very familiar with Dell's different laptop series, what are the differences between the 3000 and 5000 series laptop? Is 5000 that much better than the 3000 series?

you must be a really smart person.
btw, thanks op, y brother in law is really happy with hes new cheap laptop.
Wonder if I should wait and get the 3000 and then try and exchange for a 5000 model with a printout of the website showing the 5000 pic/description?
Anyone have success with this in the past on another of their errors?
UPDATE: They've updated the site and it's now showing the 3000 pic and description.
Guess I'll have to call or wait until it arrives to be sure (the mobile version of the op link is showing the 3000 all black model, so I think I may be returning this pretty quick. Going to try calling them to clarify. You may be onto something.)
Seriously, FutureShop can't get the pics and description right when they are unclear about their model #s??!?
dont know if you have bought the 650$ one with same config in fs
