TigerDirect.ca kicks off another Monday with some nice looking deals on a Skype cordless internet telephone and a pair of video cards.

The Linksys Cordless Internet Telephony Kit gives you all the functionality and convenience of a regular cordless phone for VOIP application Skype. The kit comes with the handset, charger, and a USB Base Station that plugs into your computer. the handset can read and display contact list on its built-in illuminated display and it supports SkypeOut dialing as well as your Skype contact list. The phone rings when you have a Skype or SkypeIn call coming in, and shows the caller's ID on the screen. There is also support for call waiting and Skype's optional voicemail service. In the market for a video card instead? There are 2 deals from opposite ends of the spectrum available. If you're looking for an entry level card that will provide basic functionality and lightweight gaming, consider the PNY 7300 GT. This PCI-E card comes with 256MB GDDR2 memory, support for VGA and DVI, and HDTV out. On the other hand, if you're a power gamer looking for big time performance, the BFG 8800 GTX OC with 768MB GDDR3 memory won't disappoint you. - I am always wondering if any $500 Video Cards are hot deals. With that kind of money, you can buy more worthful stuffs.
  I ask myself that same question when I see these cards. You can use that money to purchase a next-gen console whereas this card will only be cream of the crop for 6 months or so.

- Good deal, lowest price I've seen so far. That being said, ATI and Nvidia are about to release some new stuff starting in just over a week, so I'd say it's a bad time to buy anything high end.
  
  Regarding the consoles vs PCs argument, you're always going to pay a premium for a high end PC, but PCs are already starting to pull away from consoles in terms of graphic performance, and that gap will only widen for the next few years until the next gen of consoles comes out probably around 2010. Already Crysis coming out next month will destroy any console game graphically, and this card here is one of the few on the market that will give you a good gameplay experience with Crysis.

  Are you kidding me? The 8800GTS gets slaughtered by the 8800GTX once you turn up AA/AF, quality and resolution. Look up any benchmarks of games at 1920x1200 with AA and AF turned up high (like 16x). It'll get you around double the frames per second.

  Just the part about Crysis...I tried Crysis Beta on my current system on native res. The in game graphics were amazing....but my frame rates was not!

- let see... if all of those people playing 800 by 600 resolution with a 17 inch monitor, then of course theres no "increase" exponentially.
  
  try playing something videocard stressed... get a 24 inch monitor, plz also play it at highest reso with aa af on, and then ull cry about getting a 300$ card instead of a 500$ one.

  Still tempted to wait and see what happens to prices when the newest Nvidia card comes out. Although if it really is less than a GTX, prices might not drop much more.

- I think everyone that is waiting for Nvidia's new 65n product, the 8800GT(G92), you would think someone would mention ATI. Nvidia has come out and pushed their release date up so they could capture a bit more market share before ATI releases their 2950Pro(RV670). Nvidia has already stated the 2950Pro is faster and in reference board benchmarking, ATI won. Off the top of my head, they scored 10.9K and 11.5K in 3dmark06.
  
  This is all good. But ATI has has AA issues in the past, which are apparently fixed with this upcoming product release. Nvidia will be releasing at the end of the month and ATI mid-November. I personally would wait to see how the new ATI card performs at high resolutions/AA before I jump on the 8800GT. I'm haven't been an ATI fanboy since the 9800pro, so this new price/performance prodigy has me really excited.
  
  With each of these cards being marketed around the $250 range, wasting money on 1 8800GTX is not a good idea. Xfire or SLI, two of these will outperform a single 8800GTX for the same amount of money. By how much, I'm not sure, but I bet it's by a significant margin.

  How is this relevant? 7900GS vs an 8800GTX. There is over $300 price gap here. Everyone likes to Sony bash, but what comparison are you trying to make here? Want to know something else? I bet Sony didn't pay the 100 bucks or so it costs to buy a 7900GS at ncix.com(for example). The 8800 GTX is a beast, probably one of the few cards that will play Crysis at 1920x1200 with some AA turned up. Even an 8800 GTS is going to be under 50fps.

  Don't get your hopes up too quickly. I don't think Crysis can run smoothly at 1920x1200 with AA. Unless you're using SLI.
