TheSource.ca: JVC XX Full Size Headphones $29.99
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

Finding a good pair of affordable full sized headphones isn't easy but The Source has a solid deal on a JVC offering that won't break the bank. Until November 14, you can pick up the JVC XX Full Size Headphones on sale for $29.99 -- down from $59.99 and a pretty good price for an over the ear set. Though they might not be the slimmest or most portable pair of headphones, the price is right and reviews were decent. Some of its features include:

  • 50mm Ultra-Large Diaphragm Neodymium Driver Units and Extreme Deep Bass Ports
  • Rubber Protectors for Body Durability
  • Memory Foam Earpads for Ideal Sound Isolation
  • Soft Headpad
  • 2.6mm-Thick and Robust 3.94ft Pure Copper Cable (Y-Type)

We dug up a couple reviews from CNET, PCMAG and Trusted Reviews, if you're interested in reading further about the HA-M5X. In short, you're getting good value for the price but its design and portability might turn some would-be buyers away.

The deal is live now and is available in-store and online. If you're having a hard time locating the product using any of the links, you can find it using the product code 3319470.

      I believe they're also available in-store.
Posting to the front page. BB and Staples have this model on sale for $49.99 at the moment so ... good find!

    • I know you can get it in store just wanted to know if the daily deal price is good in store without having to order online. Anyone with experience getting the deal price by just walking in? I'm going to stop by later in the afternoon and see anyway.

    • Can anyone comment about the sound "leakage" that all three reviews say is pretty bad? This is an awesome deal based on 99% of what I can gather, but as a public transit rider, leakage sucks!

    • I had the 40mm version and they do leak quite a bit of sound because of their open (or semi-open?) design. It is not horrible but bad enough that people sitting near you could hear it. The 40mm versions were very bass heavy but supposedly they are more balanced than these ones. Also, I found the fit to be very tight and a little uncomfortable over extended periods -- I am not usually one to whine about that sort of thing. As a comparison I now have hd25s, which are often regarded as uncomfortable and I find them to be very comfortable by comparison.

    • I bought these earlier this year for $59.99 so that's a pretty good deal (but I used my ShoppersDrugmart points :P).

Wasn't entirely impressed with them however.

Aren't very bassy at all, unless you're using them with something that allows you to adjust it up manually, and with big headphones like these I expect lots of bass!

They're made of a pretty cheap plastic and not very durable, I use them daily and i've only dropped them a handful of times but the left speaker will cut out already and the camo padding is half falling out.

They also have no flexiblity. With the way they are shaped that is a bit of a problem since you kind of have to stretch the speakers apart to put it on (I have a pretty small head btw lol) and with that cheap plastic i'm 100% sure they will eventually snap from doing that so often.

Overall a decent pair of headphones at this price, but not much good for outside of the home use due to durability and their unaltered sound quality.
