TheSource.ca: BlackBerry PlayBook 16GB + Case $140
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you're in the market for a tablet, specifically the BlackBerry PlayBook, TheSource.ca has some pretty good limited time deals. There are a lot of models and bundles on sale so we'll just list them below so you can pick and choose which is the best for you.

BlackBerry PlayBook 16GB

BlackBerry PlayBook 32GB

BlackBerry PlayBook 64GB

If you've got a BlackBerry, or just want an easy to use tablet, these are pretty solid deals. We wouldn't splurge on the official keyboard, though, unless you really feel you're going to need it for e-mail and productivity on the go.

Shipping is extra but in-store pick-up is free.

They are not going to make anymore. You might get an open box or refurbish for $99 because they have tons of open box in retail stores.

    • If that is the case, even the 64GB needs to go to 99.

    • How good is the Playbook as a e-book reader? Does the screen hurt the eyes when watched for prolonged hours? How long does the battery last for one charge?

It`s heavier than an e-ink ereader but I think it is a really good tablet, especially for the price. Whether it hurts the eyes is up to the individual, I don`t have any problems reading on this screen for a long time...the display is really excellent as it is sharp and has great viewing angles. I would say I get about 7-8 hours of continuous use with wifi on. My brightness is turned down though as I really don`t need it too bright. Of course electronics always go down so the people predicting lower prices will probably be proven right, but for the moment it is one of the best tablet deals going. I am an android fan, but I must say that I am impressed with the QNX OS version 2.0...beats any android tablet with comparable hardware...ie. lot smoother playing videos and much better browser experience.

    • I have two questions
Is it worth it to pay a little more and get the 64--i dont keep much on my computers, perhaps the 16 would be fine?
Is it worth it to buy the keyboard. They seem to be selling it at regular price and so, you could pick it up at anytime, if you felt you needed it later?
Ok, three questions--would this combination deal be substantially better than, say, the Asus Transformer?

      thanks bob

    • I'm a little confused/puzzled about one thing - exactly how many units did BB make of this Playbook? It has been on constant promotion since...well...God knows when...and the price just keeps going further and further down. Is this more a function of a LOT of excess inventory that needs to be rid of, or more that people are waiting for this tablet to hit the Touchpad-esque price of $99??

These have been on clearance since last October. That's a lot of stock!

    • I would say it is better.

The ONLY downside to this tablet for me, is that you can't tether with bluetooth to an IOS device.. at least not with IOS5.. perhaps that will change with IOS6. Of course, if you're jailbroken from what I hear, you can tether over bluetooth. So basically you're stuck with using WiFi hotspot to use your IOS data for the playbook.

    • The problem with waiting for it to drop to $99 is how hard it would be to find one.

    • I have an IPAD, Samsung Tab and the Playbook. Playbook has the slickest interface and a nice screen BUT it takes over 2 min to boot up. Its also a hassle to transfer files to. The Samsung is the easiest to transfer files and boots up quickly. I would buy the 32g model as there is no SD slot on the PB.

It's simple .All international stocks have been shipped back to Canada lol .Seems it only sells here .The mention of a Playbook in SD or FW in US doesnt even gather any interest .Of course they have $200 KIndle Fires and Nexus tablets so .

I agree, however, transferring files to the Playbook is easy and secure over WiFi. WAAAYY better than using crappy iTunes... and I have an iPad, iPhone, and MacBook.

    • if you don't keep much, then 16 is fine. I put a ton of music and movies on mine, so I got the 64. I personally don't think a keyboard is necessary for tablet use, if you find you need a keyboard, then you might be better off with an ultrabook.
