Staples Saturday Door Crashers: Seagate 1.5TB External Hard Drive $70, Centon 64GB USB $30 & More

Staples Saturday Door Crashers
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you're making a trip to Staples this weekend, you might want to set foot in the store a bit earlier to take advantage of these Saturday Door Crashers:

The deal that stood out for us and for our forum members was the Seagate External Hard Drive at $69.98. With 1.5TB storage and plug-and-play USB 2.0 connectivity, you're getting an affordable and versatile HDD drive for data backup that works interchangeably between a PC and MAC computer. The review at Newegg.ca have been pretty decent with an overall rating of 5/5.

View more Door Crashers here. The one-day pricing is in effect on Saturday (April 14) only and quantities are limited, so it's best to hit the stores early. Some of these Door Crashers are available for purchase online but expect them to be in short supply as well. Staples offers free delivery on orders over $50.

    • It's nice to see that pricing is pretty consistent. The price on this has yo-yo'ed up and down over the last few months.

I ordered one of these about 5 weeks ago when they had a similar promotion ... Saturday doorcrasher for $79.99 which I ordered online. I liked it so much I emailed their customer service department the day after I received it to see if I could get another (I figured that since I purchased it online and provided they had stock, they would be nice enough to honor the one-day price). Back in the day Staples (aka Business Depot) management was very accommodating and would always allow such cases (I used to work there).

Polite response was "no, 1-day only sale". Ha.

Nice unit though. It ended up going on sale at NCIX soonafter, then Newegg.com, and later at Newegg.ca where I picked up another.

Looks like Seagate has some sort of corporate tricks up their sleeves ... perhaps some new products with larger capacity drives.

Regardless, it is a rather nice looking unit for backup.

    • Great price, I need a new HDD for a hackintosh, thinking about stripping one for an internal. But since I won't drag my rig home from uni for the summer, i think I'll hold until september for further price drops.

    • Only buy one if you need the storge space right now. Prices still have a ways to go down to pre flood levels.

For reference, 1.5TB seagate drives were $45 as a doorcrasher back at the end of October. Plus there were group buy coupons offered just before that, so you had $50 of store credit for $22.50 out of pocket.

      It was a perfect scenario.

More deals will happen, wait for lower prices this summer and back to school.

i personally havent had a good experience with seagate, but with hdds you never know. Just make sure you back up your important data somewhere else, it does not matter what brand hdd you have. If your data is that important then you should back it up atleast 3-4 different places.

There was one batch of seagate that was horrible, but in general their quality is pretty good. Hitachi is another good brand to consider, never failed on me.

    • Got one before and it has a clear plastic film (similar to one on a new phone). Can I leave it on or will it block the vents? I have this thing of leaving the plastic on to keep things clean....
