    • I'd be tempted if wasn't for their chairs being of such low quality. I have two at the moment, they're both falling apart in less than two years.

hi, would you mind if i asked which two models you own? i'm considering buying one at staples but don't want to be swayed by the sale prices. something tells me though that the majority of these won't last me more than a few years

Since when do the Staples chairs have lifetime warranty? The documentation in the box says it's 1 year provided by the real manufacturer, True Innovations.

    • Anyone know if any of their chairs are semi-comparable to the Herman Miller Aeron for comfort? Tried the aeron size B and it seems perfect for my frame, but I plan on making other big purchases all this month, so I need a poor-mans Aeron for now

^THIS. I have this one http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...affixedcode=WW and after about 1.5 years the top surface of the bonded leather started peeling. Now my entire chair seat has gone from black bonded leather to a grey fabric surface (the 2nd layer), looks AMAZING

A reviewer of this chair had the same problem and showed it - mines is like this but 10x worse: http://powerreviews.s3.amazonaws.com/images_customers/01/88/25383146_182501_full.jpg

You know the answer already and its of course not. A Staples bonded leather chair is in no way comparable to an Aeron, even the lowend ones are a world apart. Do yourself a favor and save the money, put it towards the Aeron when you can afford it otherwise you'll just end up buying and throwing away a Staples chair.

Do you know where in Toronto people are able to actually try an Aeron chair?

You can find authorized dealers on the Herman Miller website or by searching this forum for Aeron, there have been many threads about it.

    • These stupid bonded leather chairs are completely useless. One that I got from Staples started to fall apart very quickly. Also, the Staples chair I got did not have very good padding, very thin.

From my personal experience, nothing Staples can offer is comparable to what Herman Miller Aeron or any other Herman Miller task chairs.

I've had a few Staples chairs, a few industrial grade office chairs (the ones specified and tested to support "x" amount of weight, blah blah blah) and they all deform in a matter of months or less. This is to say nothing about how none of these chairs do not provide good seating comfort and proper back support with the necessary adjustment mechanisms to allow for a long ergonomically correct seating. However, despite my criticism, they are decent chairs for light use if you find one that fits your particular body type, but be very picky as none of their chairs are adjustable enough to be comfortable for a large variety of people. One of my first Staple chairs deformed so bad in 3 weeks of seating that the foam on the seat had like the shape of my behind and you could see each screw sticking out. It was not very pleasant.

The Aeron specifically is hard to find a comparable for because the that thing is almost built to match your individual body height and weight with its A, B and C forms. It is a full structured frame based with the adjustment features to customize the best possible seating position and comfort. If possibly save that money towards your Aeron investment. A quality chair is one of the best investments that can be made for most as the amount of time on one has increased significantly over the years.

EDIT: Not sure if the service plan has changed but back when I bought my last Staples chair 3 or 4 years ago, I knew it would not withstand my behind (I've always been 150lbs or under so I don't think it was my weight) so I got the 3 years service plan. I made one replacement on the seating and arm pads in less than a year. By the time I tried to make my 2nd claim about a year later on the back and seating (again, as the foam was dying), they already decided I was too high risk and refunded me the full value of my chair in Staples GC. Might be useful for some if they are needing a chair temporarily, know they will wear it down fast and can make use of the GC afterwards. My chair was 200-300 so took me awhile to use it up as I didn't have anymore big purchases to make. I still have $4 left on the GC lol...
