    • Got a refurbished one for 150 CDN shipped from Montreal off eBay It's a nice appliance to have around though, leave it to run before you leave the house, and you either come back to find the house spotless or the roomba stuck under the fridge

    • Back in February I worked so much overtime, whenever I came home I was just disgusted / frustrated with my place being so messy. I bought one of these for this same price at that time, thinking it would save me from all the hassle of vacuuming my own place and keeping me happy.

      Best purchase I've ever made. I bought a Sears vacuum for around $300 when I first got my condo. Right now, my Roomba gets about 9x the use of my real vacuum. Sure, it's not as powerful and doesn't get the very corners, but its like 100x easier to use. I usually set it to clean just before I head out for work in the morning, takes around 3 mins to remove all the obstacles (tassle carpets, towel on the bathroom floor). When I come home, the condo is usually completely vacuumed and the roomba is parked on its charger.

      My condo is around 840sq ft. I'd say a good dust buster and the roomba would keep the carpets clean enough. That way you're looking at $300 + $50 for a dust buster vs. the $300 I spent on a manual "good" vacuum. If you think it's a toy, I'd say you're sadly mistaken. The only reason I bought my real vacuum is because I thought it was a toy, but that was $300 down the drain as far as I see it. I'd totally grab this if you're a busy person who hates vacuuming. Bonus - control it with your Harmony remote .

    • Got 1 last year, very happy with its capability. Single charge lasted ~1:45 on wood/tile floor. To do every room in my 2700 sq ft house, I need 2 cycles.

      Few question here,

      1- I have a smaill appartment (2 bedroom, 1 restroom and kitchen, and bathroom) about 1000 sq Feet. I would like to know if a single Roomba will be able to handle all the appartement or I have to set it room by room?

      2- I have 3 cats. That's mean a lot of fur. Will it get stock in the mecanism?

      3- I would like to know how it will handle all the obstacle (dining table, desk, bed leg)...

      1) More efficient to do area by area, it comes with 2 virtual walls to help set the boundary.
      2) Should not, but may have to clean it more often. My girl has long hair, I make a habit of cleaning the mechanism monthly, but sometimes bi-monthly.
      3) It will go around them.

    • I have had my roomba for about a year and now having problems with it. The battery life is very low right now, and it is going in circles and stopping, which according to their website is because the cliff sensors are dirty. I cleaned them extremely well.. and the roomba worked again for about 2 weeks... then started doing the same thing. Again cleaned it, and same thing, worked 2 weeks and then stopped. Overall i am still happy since my dog sheds alot... but.. disappointed right now.

      If you are not in rush to finish the cleaning then let it go around all areas. It should be able to handle 1000 sq ft in one charge. The main floor of my hourse is a bit larger than that and I just simply press the "max" button before I leave home and when I am back it's all clean.

      However, it might have hard time to find the base station after it's done when perform the multi-room cleaning.

      You can try give their cumstomer support a call (especially if your roomba is still within warranty) and they might send you a small device to plug in the serial port of Roomba and upgrade the software, which is my case. After that it worked quite well.

      My Roomba experienced the "circle and stop" problem, but the battery is still strong after over 1 year.

      Heard great things about them and I havn't seen the price go down below 399 in a bit. Figure this is a warm deal. Unless someone can show me a better price!
      CT had this $299 price from time to time, but there is a better deal from LnT now (until Oct. 15).

      Perhaps you ment 'Not a Discovery'? The Shopping Channel model is a Roomba...just a different one.

      The one at The Shopping Channel is the Sage model.

      Compared to the Discovery model it should sell for $100 cheaper (according to irobot.com) so TSC has to lower their price.

    • Just a quick addition to my last post. My apartment is 830sqft. What I do is before I run it, I lift up all the throw rugs (which have tassles and tend to tangle), the rug in the bathroom, any cords hanging down (lamp cords, cell phone chargers), then I put one virtual wall protecting my computer area (because there's just too many cords there).

      After that, it pretty much finds its way everywhere and makes its way back to the base station. I live in Vancouver so my apartment is fairly small, but its usually good at getting everything.

      One major problem I had was my couches were just high enough so the vacuum would get under it, but not high enough that it could manouver under it. I actually bought some wood from Home Depot to work as casters so it could get under, now it works a lot better since it essentially removes obstacles in its path.

      I was always under the impression I could return it if I wasn't happy with it (I assume you can at CT, not sure about LNT). Was totally worth it.

      As to the guy who had the problem with it going in circles. Funny thing happened, after a while mine would do that and wouldn't dock, but only at the END of its cycle (like it couldn't find the station, but it knew it was around). The beams from the dock station must have been bouncing off the metal legs of my bed, because after I moved it about a foot it worked. Not saying it's the same thing, but something you could try.

      It's a vaccuum with a sweeper that spins around in the front right to get into corners.
