Refurbished Kobo Wi Fi eReader $39.99 + Free Shipping (Hot!)

Refurbished Kobo Wi Fi eReader $39.99 + Free Ship
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you've been waiting for a rock bottom price to pick up an eReader, now is your chance. Currently, Kobo.com has refurbished Kobo Wi Fi eReaders for just $39.99, and shipping is free to boot! It's not the quite the cutting edge of eReaders, but it's a solid product at a crazy low price! Here's a closer look:

  • 6" E-Ink display with 16 level grey scale
  • 10 mm (.4 inches) thick and weighs 221 grams
  • Carry up to 1,000 books with the 1G internal memory (expandable with an SD card)
  • Read up to 2 weeks or 10,000 pages on a single battery charge
  • Wi Fi connectivity

You'll initially see a shipping charge in the shopping cart, but once you pick your province, it should be removed. At less than $50 all in, it's pretty hard to go wrong. This is a very hot deal! Considering the price, this might not last very long, so act fast!

    • Had an issue with one of these refurb models I bought from FS a few months ago. Seems like some of them are complete duds branded as refurbished. Going to try my luck again with this one!

    • Always seen these and wanted one but didn't like the high pricepoints... $40 + free shipping for entry-level KOBO brand refurb is a good deal considering I don't read often...

      Thx OP

    • does it read PDF?
Yes, but it is not really functional. Does not reflow text and everything will be too tiny to read unless your PDF document size is the same as the Kobo screen size.
Stay away from PDF's on this Kobo.
For ePub novels, this thing is great for the price!

Read my previous post. You will not be able to read PDF magazines on this Kobo. Stick to your 10" tablet...

true, but LCD is pretty bad for the eye if you are looking at it for a long time...

then again, we spend a lot of time looking at the computer monitor.......

      not sure what's worse...

Maybe you should look at the Kindle DX for your needs. But IMO a 10" tablet is the best option for viewing PDF's, especially magazines... Also faster to navigate through than on an e-ink device. As much as I love e-ink devices, they are still too slow and too small for proper PDF support (journal articles, magazines etc.).

    • Kobo wifi features that seem to be missing
      - No goto page function
      - No "close book" function (though I'm not sure what that is really)
      - no highlighting / page notes function

For $40, I can live without most of it but the goto page function is pretty important in my opinion if you're using a lot of reference books.

I'm debating $40 for Kobo Wifi vs. Kobo Touch $85 vs. Kobo Touch + case (FS) $110.

Seems like in the end, you'd want a case so the FS deal seems the better?
