Ontario & Quebec: 4 Months of Bell Internet for $29.99 & No Contract (New Customers Only)

ON & QC: 4 Mths of Bell Internet for $29.99
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!
July 20 Update: We've got lots of confirmed reports that the offer works as advertised. It's definitely a good deal for those of you in Ontario and Quebec!
Originally Posted May 27: Forum member mech9t5 has spotted a nice Bell internet offer for people in Ontario and Quebec. The kit entitles you to 4 months of Bell Internet service (the exact service you can receive will depend on availability in your area) and you do not have to enter a contract.

The offer applies for the following services: Essential Plus, Performance/Fibe 6, Fibe 12, Fibe 16, and Fibe 25. The kit itself doesn't contain any hardware -- it contains an activation code. You call Bell and book an appointment with a technician for the actual installation (and to receive the modem).

All in all, it's a good value -- especially since you are not on the hook for a contract.

+1 if this was literally prepaid (buy the kit, plug it in and go) that'd be one thing but Bell will likely require a CC number or something to start service.

Then the overbilling comes and perhaps even a contract magically appearing once they have that info.

    • i dont see why it is so hard to believe?

Rogers had a free modem and free 3 months internet with no contract.

I think you are getting it wrong. I got one of these rogers modem from Futureshop with what you mentioned (3 months free and modem free) but they require you to do a 1 year contract with them.

    • Bell is a pain in the *** to deal with. I've honestly had a worse experience with Bell than I have with Rogers. There was one time where I was having disconnection issues for months. After Bell finally sent a tech to fix it, they agreed to compensate me for the previous months by upgrading me to Fibe 12 which would replace my old Total Performance plan. Well after one month of telling me they were working on the line, on about the 30th call, I found out that my line couldn't handle the speed. Even worse, I couldn't get my old plan back and I had to switch to Fibe 6 which has the same speed but a bandwidth cap of 20 GB instead of the 60 I had before.

But the pain doesn't end there. My internet service was terminated because I had to switch plans and after the proposed reactivation date, it still wasn't working. I ended up calling another 10 times in three days to try and get it running again and the reps, mostly Canadian, couldn't fix it. Finally, I decided to call at 2 am just to try my luck and the Indian rep I talked to fixed it in 1 minute. That's right, 10 calls, hours wasted, and all it took for someone who knew what they were doing to fix it was 1 minute.

Do not waste your time with this sad excuse for a company. While it may be great while it works, once something goes wrong you will have to deal with the most incompetent company in the world.

I don't remember that. It was just 3 months of free internet.

Looks like they only pulled a fast one on some people.

    • The bandwidth limits they are offering are pathetic and borderline infuriating. How the christ cant hey offer a 25mbit line and have such a low bandwidth cap? You could go past the cap after 12 hours of using that speed, insane.

    • alittlebit
    • the bandwidth cap is actually 75gb for people in ontario..

      if it's really $30 for 4 months.. i think it's worth a try

      but what's the catch?
  • AVATAR
    • wysiwyg
    • No catch and no contract (unlike the 3 month free promo I got which requires a 1 year contract).

I have Fibe 25 and love it. No one else currently offer such upload speeds at this price. For anyone with a Slingbox, it's a must.

    • I was wondering, if the modem is included in the $30 package...and if it is...then may be the hardware alone itself is worth $30, only if it can be configured to another ISP.

    • Nice deal but Bell Fibe is not available everywhere.
Check availability on the Bell web site prior to purchase.
In my are only Essential Plus is available - Speeds of up to 2 Mbps

i ordered a bell grab and go kit before. The modem is included in the box but when you cancel you have to return the modem. Unlike Rogers deal where you got to keep the modem after 3 months.

I got a crap deal though... $50 for 6 months and 1 year contract. I plan on cancelling after the 6 month period. Net cost is $150 for 6 months of Fibe 25 (approx $28 after tax per month)

    • I would agree with others that Bell is not worth the hassle you get dealing with them. There must be some catch.. or you will not get the highest speed depending upon your area. They tried to sell me 7 or 10 mbps although my line cant handle more than 2mbps... Totally crap !

      How its bad deal?
      You are paying $50 X 6 =300 for total 12 months.
      Plus the cost of kit.

      EDIT

OP: I dont think $30 is bad deal. But its not that good also.
Remind you prices are changed during last year.
      Last year Fibe 12 was $52.00 + Modem 3.95
      Now Fibe is $46.95 + Modem 3.95

I don't think they require CC. Its normal transaction with CC when you buy from Dell.
Rest is you have to sign 12 month term for your plan Fibe12/25 etc.

This is not like two years before that time you need CC and agree for 12 months contract and it was on Dell web site. So it was automatic monthly payments for 12 months. Remind you they gave Xbox 360 with that deal.

    • I ordered Bell's Fibe 25 about 2 weeks ago (at regular price). Not sure if I can cancel (they were supposed to install july 3rd) and still get this promo price. Plus, they still have the modem rental fee, and the low 20 gigs. price for QC, Bell's website states no modem rental fee and 100 gigs now for QC.

You got scammed cause I never had to sign up for a year contract, plus I was reimbursed for the whole $100 for the kit.

    • Sounds like a good deal if there are no string attached.

However, let me just say that we have Bell at work and I've never seen such incompetent support. Out internet keeps disconnecting randomly during the day. It's been like that for 2 months now. We're an IT company with VoIP. We can't afford having the internet disconnect like that. We have about 10 tickets with them, and everytime we call it's like we're starting from scratch. We've had 2 tech support people come in and they both gave completely different answers to what was wrong.

If that's how they treat businesses, I'd hate to see their residential customer support.

No, mech is correct. You don't require contract. The sales/billing people are encouraged to get you in a Contract. I had that for about 6-7 months and switched to Bell now for a year.

How many average consumers actually care about that upload speed? To be honest, nobody does. I have Fibe 25 myself (as part of Bell Entertainment Service) and I'd rather appreciate higher download limits.
