Toshiba 750GB USB 3.0 Portable Ext. Hard Drive $60
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you're looking for some portable storage, Newegg.ca has a hot deal at the moment. There's a Toshiba Canvio Basics 3.0 750GB USB 3.0 Black HDTB107XK3AA Portable Hard Drive for $59.99 EARN CASH BACK plus free shipping. That's a great price for 750GB of storage! We're more accustomed to seeing 500GB portable (2.5") hard drives at this price point. This drive also comes with a 3-year warranty. That's a great perk when many hard drives now only offer a 1-year warranty.

Reviews look good as well -- there are 12 user reviews on Newegg producing an average rating of 4/5.

To top everything off, you can get 1.5% cash back on purchases from Newegg Canada via RedFlagDeals.com cash back. Use the green cash back link to start earning now!

    • Ya - I'm thinking this is a good deal. My daughter was asking about one on her Christmas list. So this fits well into that kind of category.

    • NCIX actually has a 1tb Seagate like this drive for $75 which is a slightly better deal in terms of price/gb. That said this is still a pretty good deal.

Your daughter asked for a portable hard drive for Christmas?

      ...

You raised your daughter right, sir.

Does that also come with a 3-year warranty? A serious question as you did not post the link. TIA.

      EDIT:

      Got my answer

I bought the one on sale and so far so good. Only thing is it's a one year warranty. Doesn't really matter to me as I'm not comfortable potentially sending a drive back with all my data

    • It is a 3.5" desktop harddrive. Why always someone want to compare apple with orange?
Because not everyone needs a 2.5" portable hdd which require no external power source? Still better posting a link to let people decide if they want one or not. I agree though that some people may not know what the difference between the two types is but those people will also likely be less trigger happy when it comes to online ordering.

    • quick question guys, am i right in thinking you can take the drive out of this and use it as a laptop hard drive? my sister's hard drive in her laptop is on its last legs, and will it be any problem with the 3.0 usb when hers is only 2.0 usb ports?

Plus I wouldn't touch another Seagate product, but that's just me.

Anyone know if Toshiba fixed their issues from 2010? They had huuuge issues with laptop harddrives in their laptops that continued for over a year, but I haven't been in contact with a toshiba drive since then.

For what its worth, the Seagate product has a better Amazon.com review (4.5 stars) than the Toshiba (3.5 stars)....I was on the fence between the two, but decided to go with the Seagate due to the better reviews, despite the lesser warranty.

Apparently the cord that comes with the Toshiba is quite flimsy and disconnects very easily. This seems to be a very common complaint with this model.

    • 500 gb model is garbage, 1000s reallocated sectors in 2 weeks. Usb3 is the bare drive interface not sata, so useless to open.
and, yes, the cable is very flimsy.

Yup, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0
