Newegg.ca: Microsoft LifeCam 1080p HD WebCam
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you Skype often and find your webcam quality isn't as good as it could be, Newegg has a decent deal on a HD unit you might want to upgrade to. Forum member nguy87 found the Microsoft LifeCam Studio USB 2.0 1080p HD WebCam on sale for $49.99 with free shipping. At the MSRP of $99.99, we could probably do without a new webcam but, at almost 50% off, we might have to find an excuse to upgrade.

Though Microsoft has already come out with a newer version of this unit (the Q2F-00002), this model is still a capable webcam. It features a 1080p HD sensor, auto-focus and a high-fidelity microphone. The limited reviews on the Newegg website were mixed, however, most seemed to give positive feedback. For more information or detail on its technical aspects, you can head over to the Microsoft website.

The deal is live now and free shipping is available.

    • Slight catch is that the software that comes with it only renders in 720p at most, you'll need third-part software to record in 1080p.
Can you suggest some 3rd party software to use?

      Thanks!

Ditto about being the best webcam I've used. Also have the Lifecam Cinema 720p version and it's really good. Even the built in microphone is really good quality (in my opinion). It was $60+ when I got it. So a 1080p version for $50 is pretty good!

I haven't used a webcam/video chatting programs in a long while now, the only one that I can think of that comes to mind is Youcam.

    • anyone try to PM this with the Q2F-00002 (Business Edition)?

I can't really find any difference off m$ site except for the business title added to the end. But who knows if retailers will PM it or not.

I can't find the difference between the two either; if anyone knows, fill us in! I tried PMing with ncix, $74 was the offer they gave me for the Q2F-00002 model. Gladly went with newegg's on this one

Memory Express has a different model number and theirs carry a 3 year warranty and Newegg's only have a 1 year warranty.. My order was cancelled yesterday, they called me and explained it.

    • Ditto, got my ME order canx as well. However, I notice that ME has the same camera under 2 different SKUs and ILC, different descriptions, but the same part number. I wonder what does that mean? Debating whether I should go down and try to check out the packaging out personally?

I believe one is retail packaging and the other one is OEM brown box.
