    • I have this headphone and I agree with Oogarr also add one more thing. I prefer the philips instead the hd598! I use it for gaming and listening some songs. Great op

    • It is big save. What about its sound quality?

    • Great headphone if you have a big head.

      Sound 9/10.
      Comfortable 10/10.
      Value 1000000000000000/10.

    • They are good headphones, but I need to warn the quick readers, buy-it-now-think-later-members: These are open back headphones, the audio will be heard by those around you, and you will hear the sound coming from outside the headphones (external noises).

    • I have these headphones as well, using them with brainwavz pads. They're an incredible value. Awesome for gaming and listening to music, and very comfortable as well.

    • I bought these last year for office use. I'm in a cubicle environment so not too worried about sound getting out.

Comfortable headband design, but I find the earpads can get a bit itchy over time.
I like how the stereo plug has a step in the end to help clear cellphone cases too.

For $70 after taxes they're a decent deal.

    • Got these last year during a flash sale, I believe was $90. For $60 this is def worth.
I use in a closed office but there are times where I think they are too loud because of the open ear but usually no one can hear it.

For people that want to game/communicate, consider adding this on to it.

Thanks, I was going to consider buying it for the commute but this steers me away.

    • These are one of the most overrated headphones ever. Save a bit more and wait for the HD598s or DT-990 Pros to go on sale. Or, just buy these extremely medicore sounding headphones.

I will say the same thing about HD598 ROFL(tried friend's HD555, bought the HD598 and returned yhem) but many people seem to enjoy them like these Philips headphones.

    • Top tier beginner audiophile it's all about soundstage but are open can... everyone hear your music and you can hear them... not good for office space... great for solo time.

To each there own...sound is subjective. I don't think they are completely useless if so many people are raving about them, but at the same time I understand they are definitely a bit overhyped.

Personally, I bought them b/c I wanted a pair of light and comfortable open cans that work natively (due to 3.5mm jack) with the v-moda boom mic to create a decent headset solution. HD598's are great, but double the price at their lowest sale price, and use Sennheiser's 2.5mm jack with lock, which really doesn't work well when pairing with a third-party mic.

    • Bought a pair for the wife a while back for $65 + $6 shipping - they are most comfortable headphones I've tried on. Probably the best cheap open-back headphones on the market, that performs well above the ~$60 - $75 price. They are neutral and have good soundstage - but bit lacking on bass. Running them off my LG V20 (with the fancy DAC) - they sound pretty good, but running them off my PA2V2 amp - they sound awesome.

These headphones are a bit hyped up. Great value headphones - but I think people like to overestimate them because (a) they are very comfortable and (b) it's nice to think they are getting an awesome deal. However, in the audio world, I think a lot of perceived differences are psychological. On the other side of the coin, some people will tell you some $200 - $300 headphones will destroy these while ignoring the law of diminishing returns.

Anyways - the wife was getting annoyed I was 'stealing' her headphones - so I'm buying a pair for myself. I prefer these over my Grado SR80e for long sessions while working - they 'disappear' on my head.

    • Shipping now showing at $6.99 -- but it did show as $4.99 yesterday. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

EDIT - Think the increased shipping charge due to the headphones now being shipped from the US - as it no longer gives me the option to pick up my headphones from Richmond Hill, ON from NewEgg.

    • Just managed to pickup in Richmond Hill. So damn comfy... Really looking forward to making this my headset moving forward.

How did you manage to avoid the audio coming out of the headphones from going into the microphone? Openbacks are great until you need to do voice communication.

These headphones have a detachable cable. Just buy the V-Moda BoomPro (it is noise cancelling, doesn't pick up the sound from the headphones) from Amazon.ca and you have an amazing headset for around $100 with these headphones being on such a great deal. I paid $100 for the headphones a year ago and still think that was a great deal for the comfort, soundstage and versatility being able to use any mic or cord that you want.

I didn't know such a neat microphone existed where it would detect what noise to drop. I guess it's because it scans the audio from the cable?
