Mobilicity

Mobilicity: 50% off all Unlimited Plans (Limited Time!)

Mobilicity: 50% off all Unlimited Plans
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you're looking for a change from your current wireless provider, Mobilicity has a pretty good limited time offer worth considering. Right now, those looking to activate a new line on Mobilicity can get 50% any of their current unlimited plans. Some restrictions do apply but this is definitely a great time to consider switching your service if you think you can get more for your dollar. Here's a look at the breakdown:

Unlimited Starter - $12.50 (was $25)

  • Unlimited Province Wide Talk
  • Unlimited North American Text & Picture Messaging
  • Caller ID and Call Features

Unlimited Value - $22.50 (was $45)

  • Unlimited Data
  • Unlimited North American Talk
  • Unlimited Global Text
  • 30 Minutes North American Voice Roaming
  • Voicemail, Caller ID and Call Features

Unlimited Everything - $27.50 (was $55)

  • Unlimited Data
  • Unlimited North American Talk
  • Unlimited Global Text
  • 60 Minutes North American Voice Roaming
  • Phone Protection Plan
  • Voicemail, Caller ID and Call Features

As mentioned above some terms and conditions to keep in mind are that the first two plans listed are only available for six months while the third is available for twelve months on automatic payments. While this might sour the deal for some, this could still be used to test out the service for a few months without being tied to a long term commitment.

    • How is the service in GTA? Is the reception good for voice and data connections? Thanks.

My buddy lives beside Warden subway station and he gets no reception in his basement. He has to sit on his porch to send and receive texts, and inside his house he only gets 2g data (edge).

wow, that bad? The offers are quite attractive. As long as the reception are good "on the road" or on 1st level then I'm good and may consider this deal.

    • Living in the City is great for reception (in my experience), but once you leave the area it starts to struggle.
You will notice a difference between the big 3 and Mobilicity / Wind, but its palatable given the price.

      Correction: New activation only.

Note that there's a $15 fee for switching plans if you're a current customer.
No, I'm not existing Mobilicity customer. Any idea of any fee for porting my number to Mobilicity? and is there any activation fee?

I've never had any problems anywhere, reception was better than I got with Rogers in a lot of places.

No fee for porting, unless your current carrier imposes a fee for breaking your contract. There's also no activation fee, although if you're not buying a phone you will have to pay for a sim card ($20).

Mobilicity's coverage, like Wind's, is still spotty. You may find that you have no signal in your house, even on the first or second floor. There are several areas in the GTA which are advertised as covered but you might find that the signal doesn't penetrate through the walls into your home or apartment.

    • Also, be advised that your speeds are capped at around 2Mb/s, and they will remain at or below that speed unless you pay an extra $20 a month for premium data. I was with Mobilicity for 2 years and it worked relatively well for me at my office, but when traveling around the city you'll find that the data is unusable in many places.

    • ok so with rogers i can get lte data for $30 a month? and with mobilicity i can get unlimited data $10 and premium data for $20 a month = same price as rogers but at least there network works as good as rogers and is just as big.

    • Called 611 and they say there is a Canada wide data outtage.

can someone verify something with me. I signed up a few months ago when they had the BTS promo running. I said I wanted unlimited talk/text/data which was I believe $25+ what ever miscellaneous fees associated with it. I've been checking my statements and the total comes out to $40.xx Is that right? I don't have a paper bill and trying to sign up to their online account the system doesn't recognize my number. lolwut?

20gb of slow data on Mobilicity vs. 6gb of fast data on Rogers.

In all honesty you probably wouldn't even be able to reach 20gb of data in a month with Mobilicity's slow data speeds.

      Their website is so terrible
There is a data outage across Canada

Are you sure you signed up for the $25 plan? There was a $35 BTS plan as well.

    • For Edmonton, the service is outright terrible and spotty. Had to cancel the service due to so many dropped calls (same experience as the one person who mentioned that they were hardly getting a signal in their basement).

Bottom line. although the big three are priced higher, they do provide much better coverage than mobilicity/wind (dollar store variant companies). You get what you pay for.....

BTW, for both business or home, I have a total of three fones (chatr, telus, and fido).
All three have been solid throughout my travels across Alberta.

Best bet is either chatr (run by Rogers) (phone selection is terrible though) or fido (run by Rogers), since telus can get pricey.

Koodoo (telus company) and Virgin Mobile (Bell) also provide very good signals throughout the edmonton core.

BOTTOM LINE- for those in edmonton, stay away.... google "mobilicity reviews"

I think Koodo/Virgin would be good options as well. Their plans are generally better/cheaper than Fido/Rogers/Bell/Telus.

+1 for Koodo. I had Moblicity and their data sucks. I am happy with Koodo. I pay more but i get the service that i need.

If you go to a non-corporate store, they may be able to help you out. At least, that's what they told me months ago when I got my Galaxy Nexus.

In my experience, many dealers are willing to offer a SIM card at a reduced price or even for free with an in-store activation. Yesterday, I got a free SIM card with activation from FTA Tronix here in Ottawa.
