    • Interesting. If there are issues, since its still in beta stage right? Is it possible to revert back to 2010? Also if we download/install this, is there like an expiration date, and do we have to buy it? Or can we keep this and this will revert to the full version when being launched officially?

    • When is MS Office 13 even coming out? Can we buy the full version right from the same preview version once it ends?

    • It'll expire... it won't be free forever.
How can it expire if it is installed in the system? Maybe the data, configurations etc. but not the programs itself?

    • After having tried the Windows 8 preview, and all the headaches associated with it, I am avoiding this latest guinea pig experiment.

Same way as all other shareware expiry; have a control in the application some where that deactivates itself when conditions are met.

In early days, it would be a time check and can be prevented by changing dates.
Now days, it is more like regularly getting some signed authorization from official authorization server -- if it doesn't get a new one at some fix interval, application will stop to run.

There are, of course, as always, ways to get around it... but that's not legal, so let's not discuss the circumvention of activation technologies here.

    • Thanks for this - the videos and previews have been pretty cool. I have a couple questions, if anyone can help:

When you install the Customer Preview, it'll be separate from the Office 2010 I already have installed right? I can leave 2010 on my computer?

Does 2013 use new file types? Can you open 2013 files with Office 2010?

      Thanks.

the official MS Office 365 communities are probably the best places to have these, and other preview related , questions answered

here are some FAQs that might help

Can I keep my current version of Office during the Preview?
Yes, you can install and use the Preview version alongside an existing version of Office 2003, Office 2007, or Office 2010.

Can I open documents using my current version of Office?
Yes. Simply start your current Office application, and then open your document from within it.

What happens when the Preview ends?
If you have installed an Office 365 plan, the Preview will expire approximately 60 days after the next version of Office becomes available in your market. As the date approaches, you will receive notifications in the Office applications alerting you to the pending expiration. Once the Preview has expired, the applications enter read-only mode, which means that you can view or print documents only, it isn’t possible to create new documents, edit, or save them. You must uninstall the Preview version of Office before installing a newer version of Office.

If you installed Office 365 Small Business Premium or Office 365 Enterprise, all data in the Preview account will be deleted when the Preview ends, including email and calendar data, web sites, and uploaded documents, so be sure to move any information you want to keep to a different location.
