There are some laptop deals of note at Lenovo Canada including a hot offer on a gaming notebook (see below). It's part of a big batch of discounts on IdeaPad and Essential line products through February 22 February 29.
The gaming laptop we mentioned is the Ideapad Y470p 14" Laptop w/Core i7-2670QM, Radeon HD 7690 1GB for $799.00 with coupon code CAPDOORBUSTER2LU CAP08552LU. Here's a closer look at what you get:
- Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor ( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB )
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64
- AMD Radeon HD 7690 1GB
- 8 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz
- 14.0 " HD Glare with integrated camera 1366x768
- Bilingual Keyboard (English and French)
- Industry Standard Touchpad
- 750GB 5400
- DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)
- 6 Cell Lithium-Ion
- Intel 1000 BGN Wireless
- Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR
There is some powerful hardware under the hood -- a high end quad core processor, lots of RAM, and most notably, the Radeon 7690. The Radeon 7690 is a new product and it be a little bit faster than the Radeon 6770 and GeForce GT 555M. That means it will be able to provide solid performance for gaming. If you've been looking for an affordable but powerful gaming laptop, you'll definitely want to give this a second look.

The Y570 has been this price since January 28: http://www.canadapost.ca/shopper/ite...Laptop-08623SU
Only drawbacks are bilingual keyboard, non HD screen, and unreasonable shipping times..
Lets wait for their U300s and U400 to come on sale
@Andrew there's been no love for laptops lately with the ivy bridge coming out.
But I agree, I wish they would let you "upgrade" to an English keyboard for something like $50. I would even wait an extra 2 months.
btw my k53sv specs are as follows:
cpu - i5-2410m
ram - 4gb
video - gt 540m
hdd - 640gb (5400 rpm)
:d
It would be difficult for someone to be productive on a such a screen (e.g. write code, design stuff, etc.)
Please stop forcing bilingual keyboards upon your Canadian customers.
Give us a choice.

- Bilingual keyboard is not an issue, as I don't look at the keys very often. CNTL-SHIFT will switch modes. Keyboard layout was different from my Dell and this took me a couple of months to get used to. But I prefer the DEL key in the top-right.
- For some reason Lenovo is not offering the Y470 with an SSD option, but the slot is there. Just add a compatible Micro SSD and off you go.
- I haven't noticed Boot Optimizer to make much difference
- Size and weight are better than my old Dell D630
- Y470 also comes with 2 x USB 3.0 ports
- Power supply jumps to 19.5V and 6.15A, so "standard" Lenovo power supplies do not work.
- All ports are on the side. I wish power and some USB were on the back
I think that's just to cover their own butts, in case people are expecting 2 weeks, and it becomes a little late.
However, something incredible happened for him. He got this laptop, the Y470P with an English keyboard.
We were both extremely surprised, but hopefully Lenovo is just trying to get rid of their excess Y470 shells (the P doesn't show up anywhere on the case), and they ran out of bilingual ones.
Regardless, this little laptop is a beast. It runs Skyrim on High settings at over 40 fps. It has pretty decent air flow underneath the laptop. It keeps relatively quiet as well, even under load. I put in my order today, and hopefully it comes with an English keyboard too.
that is rather poor reasoning
SSD upgrades are easy to perform yourself, and usually much cheaper.

Anyone know if you can swap the keyboard for a US layout?
I would jump on this if it did. or the hp dv6 which is awesome but still only has this crap 1333x768 .
The build quality of a DV6 is atrocious compared to a decent Lenovo. Cheap plastics, poor cooling, and general junkiness. I own both, and have serviced thousands of laptops, and I will say that HP have lost the plot with their current consumer offerings.
