Google Drive: 5GB of Free File Storage
Google announced its new cloud storage solution, Google Drive, this week. Like many other cloud storage services, Google Drive allows you to store and sync your files across your devices so that you can access them from anywhere, at any time.
Google Drive allows you to open your files directly online without having to download them, through Drive apps in Google Play. Users get 5GB of free Drive space to start (in addition to your 10GB of Gmail space and 1GB of Picasa space). Additional space starts at $2.49/month for 25GB, and you can purchase up to 16TB of storage.

All that is missing now is better integration with apps and an official release of google music in Canada that supports the whole thing.

Dropbox doesn't offer as much free space, but if you care about retaining the rights to your content, it's a better option.
One thing the OP didn't mention is that Google+ members (free) get unlimited Picasa Web space. Just upload your photos via Google+ and they will appear in Picasa Web without counting towards your 1GB limit. There's no restriction on file size or loss of quality.
If you're looking to store videos, you can upload them to YouTube. Just verify your account via a text message to your cellphone to unlock unlimited length full HD uploading with no space limits. Also completely free.
In both Picasa Web and YouTube you can choose to keep content private, share with selected people or post publicly.
because of the privacy issues with gdrive
but why do users report 25GB when my panel continues to tell me 7GB available?
is cloud storage really a good idea
if natural disasters like hurri-sandy smash into data centers
and cut off the access?
does anyone know of a file sync that could auto-mirror two different free-cloud storage sites?
