Best Buy Future Shop: MacBook Air 11.6" with Core i7, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM, Bluetooth $899.95 Future Shop: MacBook Air 11.6" w/Core i7 $900
get this dealApple products don't often go on sale so it's always good to take advantage of the deals when they actually do hit some sort of promotional price. Right now, Future Shop has a decent deal on the popular Apple 11.6" Macbook Air with Intel Core i7, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM and Bluetooth for $899.95. A similarly priced laptop new from the Apple Store looks to be around the $1200 mark so you'll want to jump on this deal if you're set owning a new Macbook Air.
While we've seen other notebooks with similar specs on sale for much cheaper, the real draw here is the battery life and portability of the Air. If you can get by with a 256GB HD and 4GB of RAM, this is a really good deal. Just a heads up, there's no GPU so gamers, even those looking for just casual Steam games, might experience difficulty or lots of lag.
The deal is live now and ships free. Promotional pricing ends on February 1.

If you’re a walker luging everything across Campus, going to class, sitting in the Library or coffee shop the small light weight Lap gets my vote but if your editing photos or videos the larger screen and a little more RAM may be beneficial. Sounds like you can afford to purchase what you require. Do the quick List, make the decision and execute, so you can use and enjoy.
2GB ddr3 ram
64gb ssd
it's really just for taking to class but I was surprised that the 2gb ram was running a lot better than the 4gb I had on a windows 8 vivobook that i returned.
CCC for my Macs
Acronis for my PCs
I keep a cloned drive backup because when SSD's go bad you tend to lose everything.
With a clone you can boot directly off the USB drive and keep working.
(I already have a copy of CCC)
+1
In fact, if you don't need the DVD drive all the time, remove it. Use an adapter and move the HDD to it's spot. Install an SSD = dual drive.
Use CarbonCopyCloner to clone the current HDD onto the SSD.
Then buy a slim case for the DVD drive and make it an external.
I've done that a couple of times. The 2 parts on eBay around $40. SSDs always on sale on RFD.
This is my first MacBook purchase and I'm having a hard time picking. Keep in mind I have an ipad too
I managed to score this 11" MBA which I think is a great deal but I also picked up the 13" MBP with 8GB of ram for $1149.
things I like about the MBP: 7hr battery, 13.3" screen, 8gb of ram, 500gb hd
Things I like about the MBA: super light, 256 gb ssd for the price, screen
Most of the hd space will be taken up by iTunes (library about 60gb) and the backups of my idevices. Otherwise just basic email, web, office, photos for me
Both great deals but I can only keep one. Advice is much appreciated.
I find these 11" MBAs a little small, slightly bigger than an iPad screen, low on resolution but great for portability.
(I've have/had 11",13"MBA, retinaMBP)

Just curious, what are you doing that uses more than 4GB? Not saying the 8GB is a bad idea for not much extra, just interested how you're maxing it out....
I bought a refurb MacBook Air 13" 4GB RAM from the Apple Store for $1039, but I found that the 4GB of RAM was insufficient. So I bought the 8GB version from Future Shop for $1149.
I currently have both laptops in my possession. I've been using the 4GB version for about a week, and spent many hours setting it up and configuring it to my liking. I would rather clone the hard drive of the 4GB version and restore the clone image on the 8GB, rather than go thru the long set up process again on the 8GB version.
How do I do so? I've googled it a little bit, and I've come across Carbon Copy Cloner, but I am trying to figure out what the absolute easiest way to do this would be. Can I somehow set up the 8GB version as a USB drive and plug it directly (using USB) into the 4GB version?
I have an external hard drive that I could use, but it's formatted NTFS!! So it would be a hassle if I had to use it.
Honestly looking at the specs it's probably worth 600-650$, but I guess the extras - larger SSD and touchscreen bump it up.
I know it is 200 cheaper. Every day i check the price and always it was 999,99. So, if you couldnt get the Macbook air...
I recommend it. It is 256 SSD, Windows 8, 6GB ram, Intel Core i5-3317U 1.7 GHz 3 MB L3, USB 3.0, Intel HD Graphics 4000
and the think which i really liked was it is touch screen.

As per their own policy, they should.
I'm curious.
