Future Shop: Dell 15.6" Laptop w/Intel Core i7-2670QM, 500GB HD, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GT 525M $699.99

Future Shop: Dell 15.6
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

If you're looking for a laptop upgrade, Future Shop has a pretty good deal on a 15.6" notebook that you might want to take a look at. Featured in this week's flyer, they have the Dell 15.6" Laptop with Intel Core i7-2670QM, 500GB HD, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GT 525M for $699.99 -- a great price for a computer with these specs and one that should be able to handle heavy multitasking and gaming.

Despite the title saying the processor is a 2670M, some forum posters have confirmed this is a 2670QM model which means this is a second-generation quad-core i7 processor. The hard drive isn't as large as we'd have liked but there's a decent amount of RAM and the GT 525M is a 1GB dedicated graphics card that should be able to handle most games on low-medium detail settings with no problem. At 6 pounds and average battery life, we'd be weary to recommend it to daily commuters but, for the price, it's an easy buy for those with minimal travel and who always have an outlet nearby.

The laptop is currently sold out online but they're still available in-store. We'd call before rushing into a store though, as the online stock isn't always the most reliable piece of information.

The deal ends on Thursday.

    • Still avaialble in stores.
Inspiron R15 same processor and vid card with a targus bag and a 1 tb hd is 799 @ dell. maybe if there was a coupon, it would be more interesting for people. Don't know if you have to add $ to have it black on dell though.

    • it's a 2670m processor - not quad core, despite what the specs say on fs website.

    • yeah looks like 17" is a better deal even though its huge!

Don't know why these new lappy are such low rez. No wonder everyone was going crazy on kijiji for my 4 year old Dell Core2Duo with 1050P rez

You'd think the tech would advance in4 years, not get worse

    • High res with this mid range video card is a bad idea for gaming.

    • Hi,

Would this computer be good for photoshop, indesign, illustrator and maybe some light video editing?

I typically work on a Mac at school and so I'm not really sure what would be suitable for a windows laptop.

specs are good, resolution is sucky, take a look at the store, most laptops under 800 will have the same resolution, put a couple of pics up on the screen and see if you can stand it.

The CPU, RAM, etc. are all up to those tasks but I can tell you that the screen resolution will feel cramped for the CS applications. Not as huge a deal if you do occasional work on the laptop screen and use an external monitor at your desk though. Not sure what the colour and contrast is like on this panel but I wouldn't be super hopeful in this price range.

That is a hot deal. Dell.ca can't touch that price and you can also add Microsoft Office Home and Student for $99. I've been looking for one for my business and pulled the trigger when I saw this deal. Thanks OP!

    • Was in FS so took a look at this laptop. First, I can confirm that it is the 2670QM processor (quad-core). What bozos forgetting the Q in the title/description - I'm sure I won't be the only one to think it is 2 core and pass it over as a mediocre price.

I agree with others that the resolution is a bit disappointing for a high-end (in terms of processor) laptop.

    • Pretty much what I was looking for but had to pass. Went to look at it in store and saw that it had a bilingual keyboard which is a little odd for a Dell. Best Buy has the same model with very different specs but a proper US keyboard.

    • I too was wondering why they missed the q in the cpu model, but it is a quad core. Also the resolution is a bit small, but makes for easy reading for people with bad eyes. Also if you need you can hook up an external monitor.
