Dell.ca: Vostro 470 Desktop PC w/Ivy Bridge i5-3450, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD, Win 7 $494.10 (Hot!)

Vostro Desktop PC w/Ivy Bridge i5-2450 $494.10
This deal has expired! This deal has expired!

This one is hot! Dell Canada has a great price right now on a desktop PC with a just released Intel Ivy Bridge processor. Use coupon code K6R3Z3QV0Z8KT7 to get a Vostro 470 Desktop PC with Ivy Bridge Core i5-3450, Windows 7 and more for $494.10! Here's what you will find under the hood:

  • 3rd generation Intel Core i5-3450 processor (3.10GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.50GHz)
  • Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit
  • 500GB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache
  • 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 2 DIMMs
  • Dell USB Entry Keyboard and USB Optical Mouse
  • 1 Year Basic Limited Warranty and 1 Year NBD Onsite Service
  • Intel HD Graphics 2500 (Dell lists Intel 4000 graphics, but Intel's specification page Intel HD Graphics 2500 for this processor)
  • 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW), write to CD/DVD
  • Integrated 7.1 with WAVE MAXXAudio 4
  • Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet
  • Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0+LE

At retail, the processor alone would cost you $200 while motherboard would cost least $70 to $100. That would be more than half of the system cost already! Factor in that it includes the operating system, free shipping, and 1-year on site service, and this is a great deal if you are considering a pre-built system.

You should definitely check this out if you are in the market for a new desktop PC! A big thanks to forum member jimmyjamez for sharing this deal!

    • Ivy Bridge = has HD 4000 'inside' it, hence this is 'integrated solution'. However, you should see the benchmarks for it, pretty decent for integrated.... and its prolly kingston ram with a WD green drive and shoddy PSU. And its a lower-end model Ivy Bridge.

      ...Considering I can get 2500K (180$) + 8800 GT (30-50$ USED) + 8GB RAM (40$ OR LESS) + PSU (40-60 for 500/600W) + SSD FOR $60 + 500GB (if needed)...

This is pretty darn right cold.

Does that mean no need for gfx card anymore with the new ivy bridge? I'm noob at computer stuff :/

That setup puts you at $350 (no 500 GB drive, lowest prices). Add a decent motherboard ~ $100 and an OS (assuming Windows for the average Joe) puts you well over this deal. Warranties will vary as some are used parts, some parts will have warranties longer than the Vostro.

So where is that cold draft coming from?

    • I pass this new Vostro 470 mini tower. Specs (other than cpu) are good but the memory max is 8gb (2dimms) whereas Vostro 460 memory max is 16gb with 4 dimms. Dell should do better with new ivy bridge cpu.

I'd be surprise if you even need 16gb.

I've used my 2500k with 4 gb with ssd and it works like wonders.

You do have a good point here though for future proofing.

Hopefully by the time i need 16gb or even 8gb I'll be buying a new computer by then. lol

      Don't forget the minor things.

MOUSE AND KEYBOARD Dell USB Entry Keyboard and USB Optical Mouse $10
      OPTICAL DRIVE 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW), write to CD/DVD $10
FLOPPY DRIVE & MEDIA READER PFC Chassis $10
      Wireless Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0+LE $20

      I'm sure that's another $50 there easy.
Were up to about $600 if we were to build this before taxes.

    • Honestly if you need a entry level PC, prebuilt is the way to go. It's only when you get to around $800-$1000 that building it yourself makes much more sense. And 8GB is enough even for gaming machines, no need for 16GB any time soon, unless you are doing graphics/video rendering, which you should NOT with this PC. Intel HD4000 is more than enough for the average joe, even watching full HD movies and BD. Good find OP

Depends on the mootherboard. But usually new machines these days carry 1x HDMI and 1x DVI, sometimes VGA as well but its getting rarer these days. HD4000 is said to support 3 monitors out of the box, so maybe you will 2x of one of them or maybe DP or mini DP
