    • Strictly speaking, its not an LED TV... its an led-lit LCD TV.

You make it sound like this is the only LED-labelled TV that isn't LED-lit when they're all like that .

At that price you can also tell guarantee it's edge-lit LED backlighting too rather than a back-lit LED lighting so colour and brightness and contrast reproduction is 100%... just like every other HDTV at that price...

You might as well also included the fact that it's using an IPS-LCD panel rather than TN-LCD or VA-LCD panel technology... which is pretty unique to Panasonic but I don't have one so I can't comment if that's better than the more prominent VA-LCD panels.

      Either way, it's still a semi-decent product at a semi-decent price...

As another poster indicated, it's not really relevant but if you want to nit-pick, traditional LCD TVs use a CFT backlight to illuminate the LCD display. "LED TVs" use a similar LCD display but use LEDs as a backlight. The smaller size of LEDs has allowed manufacturers to line the edge with LEDs (aka. edge-lit) instead of illuminating from behind the panel making for slimmer TVs than the older CFT backlit LCD TVs.

I did a quick search on all the hot deals for the U2410, and it looks like $389 is the lowest price it has ever been. The last time it was on sale (other than black friday) was Dec 5-6 2011 for $399. I would say with the 4% off, and at $389, it's a great deal. I'm debating if I should get it too.

An edge lit LED uses LED lighting only around the outside edge of the screen, while using the same florescent lighting as regular LCD screens in the middle. A backlit LED uses LED lighting across the whole screen. Typically backlit LED's are more expensive. The manufacturers sell the LED's like they are the second coming, and a revolution, but the truth is that they all use the same screen tech as cheaper LCD models, just with a different light source. Although the LED approach allows the screens to be thinner and some can selectively darken parts of the screen to improve black levels.

Just a couple of weeks ago during the Black Friday period, it was $399 and I bought one. I received it several days later (not 2 weeks like the site said) and it works great! No problems, not a single dead pixel, etc.

I do a lot of photography/video and graphic/production design work here at home involving critical colour, so I was hoping it would go on sale. It doesn't go on sale as often, and not this low for sure. Now that it's on sale again, I definitely will buy another one to get the dual set-up again.

      Thanks for posting this, OP!

The lowest price was $379, I believe it was in Sept. Still many reports of the colour uniformity issue, this is what holds me back. Like to see an improved 24" Ultrasharp, even if its more money. They seem to be declining in quality with each new model.
