Have you been considering an Intel Core i7 system? If so, Dell.ca has a pair of offers you'll want to take a look at. An outlay of $849 or $999 can put you behind the wheel of a pretty nicely equipped Core i7 Studio XPS PC.

$849 is the cheapest we've ever seen yet for a complete Core i7 system. At retail, a Core i7-920 processor still costs $300 and you'd be doing well to find a suitable X58 motherboard for $175. With 2 components alone accounting for about half the cost, you'd have a pretty difficult time putting together a similar system piece by piece at retail -- especially when you factor in things like operating system and shipping. Don't forget, since these come with Vista Home Premium, you are entitled to a Windows 7 upgrade down the road.

The $999 system is pretty similar to one we saw last week. However, the 750GB hard drive has been bumped up to a 1TB model. Overall, both desktops offer good value if you're considering an Intel i7 system.

  You can add an ATI Radeon 4850 to the 999$ deal and you get the same as the 1299$ deal but for 1244$...
  this is now the same deal as the DOD sale that was on about a month ago...

- The $849 deal is the better deal to be had here..........WOW (just remember to use *great canadian rebates *dot* ca* (remove spaces and add a dot) to get 1.5% cash back via Paypal on Dell.ca purchases.

- actually, using the estore link at AP gets you triple miles currently using an AP card....worth more to me than 1.5% cash back....since 3000AP points is worth more than 15 bucks....

  i disagree. dual to tri, not as big, unless you are so hard core that you can tell miliseconds with a stop watch. 1TB is $85 bucks CC best deal out there, plus 5GB ram is very very solid price for the extra $65. if you are that hard core to notice the difference, i'd be surprised, u shouldnt' even be getting this box, build it urself. if ur talking like major step function sure, but honestly who measures that closely to even care.

  Yes, mir sux and usually takes a long time to process, and shipping can be free if you know how to work the system.
  I got one of these and total cost comes to $79.99 + GST + a $10 giftcard for next purchase = $93.99, as well as a potential $10 MiR and shipping is included in purchase.
  so, $93.99-$10GC - $10 MIR + $1 postage for mailing rebate, works out to $74.99, assuming I get the MIR(which I dun expect to get for another 4-5months), or else it's just $84.99.
  
  Anyway, in regard to dual channel or tri channel, it really depends on what you do and what programs/games you're running. Most software/games out there still dun take full advantage of having more then 2 cores and rams being triple channels. Of course if you're running something that do take advantage of it, you'll see a noticable difference.

- Might be in for this deal, and a Mini 10v. I've got a 15.4" now, and don't like lugging it around when I travel, but enjoy taking my PC on the go with me.
  
  The mini seems like a great choice, and this seems like a great Desktop deal.
  
  No monitor included, can anyone suggest if I should go with a Dell monitor, or go with another brand from FS or BB?

  Aeroplan...you can buy through the e-store link...when i bought my computer, they had 2 miles for every $ and i used another CC that gave me points so got triple miles...
