Canon Canada: Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Lens + 16GB Memory Card $299.99 (Save $160)
This deal has expired!
If you recently picked up a digital SLR this Christmas and are now looking for lenses, the Canon eStore has a really good deal on the 50mm f/1.4 you might want to check out. For a limited time, you can pick up the 50mm f/1.4 USM Lens and a 16GB memory card for $299.99 -- down from $459.99 and a nice upgrade to those who are currently sporting the 50mm f/1.8. Despite the 50mm f/1.8 being much more affordable at $100, the build quality and performance of the 50mm f/1.4 make it a much more desired piece of camera equipment.
Normally, you're looking to pay around $450 this side of the border and to import from the US will cost you shipping, taxes and potentially duty. Here, though, shipping is free and no duties will be charged as it's shipping from within Canada. Add to that the free 16GB memory card and you've got a sweet deal on a well built lens.
Shipping is free and the deal is on for a limited time only. Quantities are limited.
Thanks to xraykid for sharing this one with us!

EDIT; after a quick check for my local ME... PM brings it down to $274 + the 16Gb card... great enough deal to go and git'r
EDIT: just bit the bullet. Too bad I didn't see this earlier so i could PM at memoryexpress. oh well. This lens can sell easily used for $300, so you won't really be losing anything if you ever decide to upgrade to 1.2L...lol probably not

The 50mm f1.4 is still a great lens, and does help in extreme low light situations, so long as your subject is in the middle of your frame.

That being said, my f1.4 50mm was a bit disappointing as an upgrade from my cheap f1.8, which is probably the absolute best bang for your buck Canon lens. I was really surprised how soft it (the f1.4) was below f2.8. That is why I'm so pleased with the 40mm - it's tack sharp though out. In other words, I'm slightly biased against the f1.4, but not enough to part with it.
My advice is to try both and keep whichever you prefer, unless (like me) you shoot often in low light. If you do, keep both.
